Gil Inequality of Travel Teleportation

There is a difference in expense of travel from Shirogane to the Doman Enclave and back. When you travel to the Doman Enclave from Shirogane, it's 497 gil. When you travel back, it's 124 gil. The cost of teleportation from Shirogane to Doma is only 50gil. The Doman Enclave is just around the corner. Why would it be almost 10x the cost of travel from Shirogane to the Doman Enclave it is just a little bit further, but it's only 2 times the cost going back?

It's because teleports to Free Company Estates, Private estates, and apartments are always discounted to the lowest possible. It will always be cheaper to teleport to them than it is anywhere else.

You might want to take a look at a map of Eorzea. Shirogane is nowhere close to Doma.

It does indeed cost only 50 gil to travel from Shirogane to Kugane. But Kugane has little to do with Doma.

I think a simple solution would be to make all teleports cost 999.

Because right now, with all the reduced teleport costs and ways to avoid paying teleport costs(eg: aetheryte tickets), teleport costs are not a effective gil sink as SE intends them to be.

That would be prohibitive for new players. It takes a while for gil to build up to the point that even current rates don't seem expensive.

The better solution is for player who worry about cost to use what you already mentioned - Aetheryte tickets. A single weekly ARR/HW/SB B rank Hunt bill is good for 20 tickets not to mention 5,000 gil. That's 60 free teleports each week plus 15,000 gil towards any teleports over 60. None of my characters past level 60 have to pay teleport fees thanks to those B ranks.

Yeah this.

After years of playing on my main I kinda forgot these ticket exist. But rolling a couple alts recently I was pleasantly reminded of them (and the game give out a generous amount to new player). And they're so easy to get that you can get stack of them with minimum effort.

Free/cheap solution to teleport solution already exist in the game.
