Got a small house today. It only cost me getting multiple accounts, starting my own free company with about a dozen members, then bidding on the same lot at about 3.5m a pop. It should *not* have to be this way.

Congrats hope you enjoy it now that you have it.
They might've done a dozen to pad the bids in their favor. Just a guess.
I think it's terribly ironic that the same neighborhood system meant to foster community is incentivizing people to create solo freecompanies.
Grats on the house though, OP. Hope it's fun to decorate.
Congrats on getting a house!
If you were going for a FC house you did go to more effort than was needed. No need for multiple accounts when you could enlist friends to use alts to help get your FC formed. And no need to have multiple bids on a FC plot when demand for small FC houses has been mostly dead the last two lottery periods. The chances of having anyone bid against you were extremely small.
But agreed that it should not have to be this way for anyone to get a house for personal use.
3 characters per 4 accounts. I padded the FC with extras, as suggested by Avoidy, to help my odds.
You'd think the demand was small, but the one I bidded on earlier in the cycle had several add-ons since when I placed my bid. Plenty of 0-bid houses out there and people still had to troll. And had I not added the rest of the FC to the lottery this morning before draw, I have no doubt that I would have lost it.
Yep. Had a 100% chance until sometime over last night. A few people decided to get a last-minute run on the plot, so I dumped everything I had on it this morning. And yeah, the irony isn't lost here. :(
