Chocobo Breeding question

EVERY chocobo I've bred from G2-G9 has been female. Every, single, one.

I was using Covering Permissions for the male, hoping to eventually breed a male. Is this not possible with CPerms? Will the offspring always be the retired ones sex if I use coverings?

Not sure if Im having bad luck, or just need to start a male from G1 to breed with my female retired chocos. I thought even with covering permissions it was 50/50, but I havent read any guide that mentions that wouldnt work.

I got both males and females sometimes, but in the last several grades I just got females.

Did you use all of your 10 chances per retired Chocobo?

For my G8 and G9, only about 5 each so far.
Lord, I didnt know there was a limit, thats even worse... my main female G9 is 4/4/1/4/4, just one stat off... If I lose her I'll cry D:

The strategy is to use all your chances and pick the best one to continue improving it, which I am going to assume that you didn't do.

Yeah, the whole idea is to keep multiple at G8/G9 to have a bunch of backups to aim for the 4/4/4/4/4 with. Even with an ideal setup of both parents each only having one stat under four stars, at best you have a 25% chance of hatching the perfect bird. Now just imagine you get there, and decide you want to start trying to breed for color too. XD
