Letting a house go
I did some Googling, and found conflicting results, so thought I'd ask here for the current state of things.
If I want to let my house go, is there still a difference between demolish and auto-demolish?
From what I found (2yr old post on Reddit):
Auto demolish gets you 80% of the land cost, and all your stuff stored with the housing NPC.
Demolishing yourself gets you none of that.
If the Auto demolish still gets you those things, how long do you have to pick them up before they expire/deleted?

1) https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...3e7ccabefa9954 This is the most up to date information
2) Relinquishing your plot does not get you anything, by relinquishing the plot you basically just return it to the system for someone else to buy and get nothing back.
3) It takes 45 days for the auto-demolition to complete. You will get a warning by day 30 and unless you sign in and enter your house before the 45 days are up, the house will be demolished. Any items that are not transferred to the reclamation npc will be returned in the form of gil.

NP :) It'd be nice if they actually gave the same incentive for voluntary demolition vs. auto-demo.

35 days to collect items once they're on the npc too. If you don't grab them they go to the void and that includes event items and mogstation purchases that were stored. Some people get confused on the storage for houses, apartments and fc rooms as well. That either goes onto the npc in the case of auto-demo or destroyed in the case of proceeding manually. I don't believe the auto-demolition process is running at the moment though, so you may be in for a much longer wait if you're looking to get that gil back.

Auto-demolish is off
However, auto-demolish is currently turned off and there is no telling if/when it will be resumed. So at this time the only choice is relinquish with no return or to just let it sit and wait in hopes that someday you'll get some of your gil back.
