Just as the title suggests. Where would ffxiv be? Would patches take longer to roll out? Would there be more of a grind fest?
How exactly would the game turn out I wonder?

Every equipment slot would be for belts.
You might need a few degrees to see the full picture story..
That is far too generous.
More like if he were directing we would have five different versions of every character spouting inane meaningless dialogue, a lot of lazy retconning time travel across multiple timelines, and no real story so much as an ever increasing roster of fanart and trotted out trademarks from better titles. And terrible hair and costuming.
Though, to be fair, XIV is already halfway to that anyway. The only thing saving it is aesthetic and pulling a lot from non-Nomura games I think.
1.0, but everyone looks like Gaia.
You'd have to play 4 different MMOs and 7 mobile spinoffs to get the full story.
This game would be Nomura's wet dream. Fourteen reflections to work with, an ancient race possessing corpses and people, space-time traveling magic...Nomura would be like "nice, already 50% of the work done for me."
We would have a high-quality story. Too good that the only rival in the market would be none other than WoW storywriting in recent years.
Not just that, but it would also rival WoW in separating the whole story across a series of books, previous games to play, a spinoff, an audiobook, and a couple of cinematics with a lot, and by saying a lot, I mean A LOT of fanservice, especially to the shipping community. Does it have to make sense? Absolutely not. Top-tier storywriting!
Belts and zippers.
The game would also focus much more on dialogue and individual character moments and much less on plot. Everything would be in service towards getting to the next cool character moment and it'd make a lot of people (even more) upset.
It'd probably have much better gameplay too. Can't take that away from his games as much as the stories veer into the nonsensical at times.
