Would you like to buy a beer for the devteam?

Hey, thanks for checking my thread out. I was just discussing with my friend that also plays how cool it would be if something like what I put in the title existed for the FF14 team. I got the idea when I saw that a restaurant offered a charge that was "buy the cook a beer" essentially allowing you to reward the staff for an excellent meal above and beyond. We then had a pretty sweet idea, which goes something like:

New mogstation item is pitched in an update, said item is priced a bit high, with the 'extra' proceeds going to doing something fun for the dev team. Company outing, party, buying them cool office swag, whatever. The results of the funding is then shown in the following live letter or some such public outreaching showing how our money was spent and how it was fun for those involved.


Idk seems like a cool idea, I know something like what I described might not scale super well for a really large team like we have, but in the off chance that it might give someone a better idea, I figured it was worth putting it out in the universe.

Yeah I'm with him.

I pay them with my monthly sub and the occasional store purchase to maintain a game I still mostly enjoy. I'm not here to fund their recreational activities, even less so after having my intelligence insulted before this most recent patch went live.

That said, the sentiment is cute but I'm not wanting to give them more money to do stuff like

No thank you. Not only have I not seen anything in game recently that was excellent or above and beyond, I'm pretty sure that they can pay for their own beers.

You're a very kind and sweet person for even considering this. Would it actually work? Probably not. Every single time things like 'tips' come into the equation, corporations immediately decide to just pay staff less and force them to rely on the tips instead of actual payment instead. And that is just a huge pain in the neck for everyone involved. When managers hear anything about a tip, they start foaming at the mouth and want in. There's no way of getting out of it. They're going to feel entitled to a cut of whatever their employees are getting. So. I would say only thing that would work is if these people put up little 'ko fi's or whatever they are but that would probably be a disaster too lmao. Just support via your sub and maybe a mog item here and there. Your heart is in the right place at least.
