Teleporting from Merc House

When inside the Uldah mercantile house In LImsa, I went to teleport to Camp Skull Valley, which is in the same region as the city I was in, and should have only cost me 4 anima. Instead, all camps in my area besides my favored locations, would have cost me 6 anima, as if I were trying to teleport from an outside region.

I tested this in all foreign mercantile houses in each city, and the result is the same.

I think that when (or just before) they implemented the merchantile houses, they said that while you were in them the game would recognise you as being in the city of the house you were in. I'm guessing this is because of that. It sounded like they were forced to do things that way (hence they couldn't do all city searches from a single area as they were planning to originally) so this probably won't be able to be fixed until 2.0.

I wonder how many people will use this as a way to save anima... Plenty will just go to the merch houses in the city they're in to teleport to camps in other areas for cheaper anima costs. Makes the different costs pretty pointless now if they're so easy to get around. Then again, it could be considered bug abuse if it wasn't intended to work that way and that could scare some off. We'll see.

That's right. From Patch 1.22 Notes:

* While you are inside a mercantile house, your current location in player search will appear as the associated city-state. The same applies when you log out of the game while inside a mercantile house.

I even posted this same issue a few months ago and it seems I had misunderstood aforementioned information aswell. Still, anima costs for teleportations performed from the Mercantile House of the city-state you're currently at (i.e. Gridanian Mercantile House at Gridania) are wrong IIRC.

I do believe that at the moment they have explicitly set the anima costs on all mercantile houses to be the max cost (as in, those of being in a different region) because exactly of the positioning shenanigans, it'd become abusable in order to save anima going from, say, Gridania to Camp Dragonhead.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was unaware they had posted this in the notes. I hope they fix this issue in 2.0 if only for consistancy. I am sure they prob aren't able to fix this because of the current server situation.

basically the merc houses are their own region, so wherever you are trying to teleport to it will act as if you are changing regions.
