After 6.11
After having grinded the new CC for quite a bit and now getting a first patch, my hopes for PvP are nearly gone.
PvP with a streamlined Job/Class roster seemed like the best idea ever for this kind of gameplay. Having streamlined Jobs means for me, that the devs have a great base from where to adjust balance and actually achieve control over it.
However, the last patch showed me that with them nearly only focusing on numbers and not mechanics, they dont really seem to have that kind of control. I hope it is not even worse, by them currently "just guessing" what numbers and mechanics mean together for any given Job. If that should be the case, then this games PvP will have to go through a very lenghty adjustment phase.
This is all very very complex and i have yet to see a Game achieving good balance over a broad array of playstyles/Jobs that does not also grow into a stale Meta. But if i dont see some Jobs reworked for PvP and/or basics like Guard and Purify made stronger, i think this Games PvP will be very stale and only about if the stars align and all the teams random burstdamage conects more then that of the other team.
The only thing that keeps a shiver of hope for me is that i recall that this is all just a Beta still, but im not sure if thats true.

I'd agree that simply adjusting potencies is not enough for some kits like DNC and BLM that have aspects that are fundamentally awkward to utilize like Honing Dance or a general dependence on hardcasting.
They need to at least let you use Recuperate while you're using the former, and the latter just needs to have Triplecast in its kit so it has more freedom of movement in general.

Not only that, but their numbers adjustment was very timid and not enough to offset the poor choices they made on mechanics.

I’m happy with the small Astro buff. Went from Gold 4 to Diamond 5 in a few hours with breaks. Had a long streak. I didn’t think 12k damage from macrocosmos was allot but wow was I wrong.
I do see major buffs/nerfs happening in patch 6.2 though. 6.11 is more like a bandaid for now.
