I Can't Do this Anymore

Win, lose, win, lose, win, lose, win, lose.

Rank go up, Rank go down. Spend all day and just about hit Diamond? Oops here comes a losing streak, now go all the way back down to Platinum 4! Your whole day was just wasted.

I just can't at this point. The amount of time it has taken me to get this far has been obscene. Way, way way too much of my day is being spent on trying to rank up now due to this garbage system. There is no way to progress to Crystal without outright unhealthy levels of play unless you want this to take months.

It has ruined CC for me at this point. It's honestly starting to make me resent the entire game. I'm not having fun, I'm already dreading Diamond being even LONGER. There is nothing good, enjoyable, or rewarding about this system. It just flat out sucks. I have no control over who I play with or against. If my teammates throw I'm not going to carry them by myself. There is already enough punishment in not gaining any rank from losing, why should I be further punished by LOSING rank on top of that?

Everything about this sucks, I'm tired of so much of my day being spent trying to progress because I feel I have to just to have any chance of getting to Crystal in the forseeable future. I hate this, I hate CC now, I'm starting to hate this game. There is nothing about this system that showcases one's skill. You are not going to progress if you don't win. If you are an actual deadweight 4 people are not going to be able to carry you. That is already sufficient punishment. Hell, I would happily give up win streak bonuses, or even gaining exp/marks for losing at all. But outright LOSING PROGRESS is just godawful especially when I do not have total control over the matches. It sucks. It makes the game worse. Please stop making these systems.

You are forced to abuse the "meta" if you want to climb. So... You're forced to pick WAR/SAM/WHM.

I'm tired to see the same comp at every match with just a few variations like

WAR/WHM/SAM/RDM/SUM
WAR/WHM/SAM/NIN/(random player completely lost)

I had fun when I was Bronze and could clim playing Bard but this is over now

Step away from ranked. Step away from CC entirely if you have to, but at least step away from ranked. I can understand your mindset because it sounds just like mine and let me tell you, get away from ranked for your own sanity, it's not worth it.
CC is fun, for me at least, but ranked is actively making it less fun, especially because of how broken and godawful it currently is. Just walk away, for your own sake.
There's not even anything good from rank, just some portrait frames that honestly seem really ugly to me. But my collector brain wants them, and I can see how it's ruining a game I love in the process.

Only job which I haven't seen people main all the way to Crystal has been Gunbreaker :p There are plenty of jobs like AST/BRD/SGE players in top 10

I climbed from Gold to Crystal on SCH/BRD neither are top meta Jobs (but not the bottom tier either).

I can climb with Dragoon or Scholar, which are both competent jobs but not the best of the best. However, when I switch to the only meta job I have actually played a little (WHM) it becomes noticeably easier and quicker to rank up. By picking WAR/WHM/RDM/SAM you win more for two reasons: First, you guarantee that you will have that job in your team instead of some masochistic with a Dark Knight, Paladin, etc. Secondly, if you are someone who consistently performs well for your current rank, you ensure that the meta job will fall on the hands of someone who can make the most of it. Even in gold/plat there are a lot of people who are very bad at the game and ranked up only by playing meta jobs and/or getting some lucky steaks.

I agree with the user above who said that party compositions start to look the same as you rank up. WAR/RDM/WHM are a staple, and the other positions are split between NIN/SAM and to a lesser extent DRG/MCH. And when you end in a party that does is missing a WAR and/or RDM and/or WHM while the other team has all three, you know you are very, very likely to lose.

It's just sad.

I have been playing ranked only infrequently, as I don't play and will not play WAR/WHM/RDM/NIN/SAM, and it frustrates me when the opposite team is packed with them.

It's just not worth the time and effort to climb in what is essentially a beta.

We’re upset because a team game isn’t show casing any one person particular skill?
We’re upset that a separate system that is optional and serves no function to progression or anything outside of its own system is difficult?
We’re upset that time + money doesn’t = guranteed rank?
Did I get all of this correctly?
This ruins it for you, but it’s actually the reason I and others enjoy it so much. There’s no satisfaction to be had here, usually people who are very pvp centric take the thrill of the battle to be the takeaway, I just like squaring off against others, no other rhyme or reason is required, if I get extra shit and happen to climb that’s just icing on the cake, without expectation, rhyme or reason.

This doesn’t sound like you, it sounds like you want the shinies and are owed the shinies, as someone else said here above me, I’d advise you step away from this and stay away, this is an optional system your probably better off not participating in for your own health.
In the end it’s your own choice you can climb with any job, is it rougher yes, but you don’t enjoy it.

The only thing I disagree with you on is you thinking that one person skill in team games shouldnt be weighted as heavily. Theres montages a plenty in FPS games like CS where a team gets wiped out the gate and its a 1v4 scenario and that 1 legend manages to kill 4 and take the round. LoL if we look at this recent split even before C9 shit the bed entirely in playoffs they had a few games where they couldnt get anything done anywhere except toplane but they won because their toplaner Summit *exists*

I would argue team games have even more solo skill expression than solo because when you drag the corpses of your entire team across the finish line with overwhelming skill its a bigger moment than any one 1v1 game.

It took me over 800 games to get to Crystal. Of which the ratio was for every 1 win, I lose 3. Which basically negates the star streak reward.

I brute forced and it's not healthy. I definitely recommend you take a day off and relax. The season is still here for a good few months.

I've basically taken 2 days to relax before aiming for top 10.
