Dancer Revelation

So the revelations about dynamis made me realize that the Totentaz dancers face down against was -probably- manifestations, in a weird way, of the Dynamis that Meteion as the endsinger was projecting. Maybe people's despair being strong enough to puncture outwards and let droplets of her influence in.

Either way, it makes me sad that the class quests never got even partially extended where appropriate for places like Radz-at-han. Like a max level alchemist or a max level dancer getting some bonus quests opened up because of the cultural importance. Things like that.

The Totentaz originating in Thavnair would make sense considering that it sits in an aetherial "slow" zone that was inherently more susceptible to dynamis permeation, and that may have held true to some extent even with Zodiark's wards in place.

Still, I feel a touch loath to assume anything unless it's explicitly stated given that both aether and dynamis can do basically anything the plot dictates given proper stimuli.

I'm starting to think the whole dynamis concept is liable to get swept under the rug and not actually elaborated on further given that the blasphemies seem to have been given similar treatment through the role quests.

I'm also genuinely disappointed that I can't turn up with Alchemist to do some Thavnairian quests. C'mon, guys, alchemy was Thavnair's whole thing until basically Shadowbringers!

That said, you do basically see on oblique confirmation that the Totentantz was dynamis-related by talking around Radz-at-Han after 6.0; there's at least one NPC that recaps what the Terminus Beasts were using almost word-for-word the exact same description as the dancers use to describe the Totentantz, suggesting that yeah, it was identical observed behavior.

This was one of the problems I had during 6.0. Both the Totentaz dance troupe and Bards jobs are to help rouse people's spirits and to deal with these sorts of things. The bard quest line even had you go looking for the song of Oblivion. Course these bits of lore also shine a light on the weak parts of the story. The devs can't go and assume everyone has gone and leveled every job or done every side quest. So they end up ignoring things like this or with the 6.1 msq barely giving a nod to things like this or the fact you know a 100+yr old stuck in the body of an Elezen teenager that knows a thing or two about void gates ect.

Could just treat the role quests as canon and have Taynor involved in things at some point. Kind of like how CT was treated before they decided to make it mandatory? And... I dunno. Explain it as time dilation btwn shards? lol You'd have to limit Taynor to either travelling to the source or only being spoken to via a communication device or something across the rift, so that when the player goes to the First, it makes sense that he's not a thing for them still. It'd be convoluted, but maybe doable.

peppering the msq with these references and what not would make the world feel way more alive and interconnected. I hate that so many things that can affect or just exist in the world at large are absent when they logically should be there.

But world building is not one of XIV's strong points by any means.

The problem there is that, because FFXIV's writers want to make sure everyone picks up what they're putting down, they'd have to make the quests Taynor is in required for the content that then picks that up. And given Taynor is in the all-roles quest, you've suddenly mandated that everyone has to level a tank, healer, caster, and physical DPS to at least level 80.
