Adventurer Plate Beta Feedback!

Hey friends! I figured, since this feature is in beta, how about we make a thread where we can bring in our feedback in aggregate?

When providing feedback, keep in mind that the current Adventurer Plate featur is in beta. The functionality will be improved, bugs will be found and addressed, and no doubt more poses will be come available.

With that said, let's get underway!

First off, if your search info is going to be on the thing (good!), make Search Info something you can edit directly from the Adventurer Plate UI rather than going to another UI. Also, it might be worth considering allowing a little more expression, perhaps with a greater character limit.

Another thing is the Active Hours part is a bit of a mess. It's hard to read, messy, and the hour range actually manages to say little for most users. Aside from improving clarity, I would strongly encourage an option to omit the number, the tick indicator, or both. In fact, a modular approach where some elements like play style could be removed if you want could be good. For example, many of us rather have something like, say, our housing information (address, tags, etc.) available as an option instead.

My thoughts so far. Please contribute your feedback or ideas so that the feature can be more robust and useful to us with future iterations. :)

Also, since we have plates now, can we have the search info text max length increased a bit, please? From 60 to 100 characters or something? :)

They need to stop the portraits from unlinking every time your gear changes. Keep it permanently linked, and enable two options for the portrait link: show portrait with whatever is your current gear, or keep the gear from when you created the portrait as the one that shows

It would be nice if we could save a couple of Adventure Plate layouts, similar to the way we can save multiple portraits.
That way if you create a plate you love, but want to try something new, you can save that to go back to later.

This is a big one right now. It's too finicky. It is actually really hard to get a portrait that just... stays there, especially for CC. Like, I know how to do it, but like it feels there is a dozen things you need to get perfect for it to just hold together. I just want to set it and forget it. None of these ugly error messages about gearsets or glamour plate links or anything.

There really needs to be options on whose Adventurer Plates can be displayed to you. A lot of people are creating quite extremely NSFW plates, and not everybody wants to see that.

A simple filter to allow friends-only would neatly solve this problem.

This NSFW plates you talk about are against the ToS. How about we add a report button for this case ?

In fact, I strongly agree with you. I don't want to see butt or lewd or explicit content in those Adventurer plate. Those a great addition to the game !

For the feedback now. I agree with everything listed before. And I personnaly hope that Adventurer plate maybe encountered in other content as well, but with limit.

For exemple, how about we put adventurer plate at the beginning of a dungeon/trial/raid ?

This could be cool, BUT you won't be able to "skip" the cutscene before... Or, the adventurer plate show just for a while before the cutscene ends. Therefore, if you haven't run the dungeon/trial/raid at least once, you get the full opening cutscene, while if you already done that, you only get a little piece of the cutscene with the plates. (Option can be selected if you wish to have shortened cutscene, or not, after a first time).

What's odd is that it works for plates. I've had the same plate photo forever but my instant portrait seems to break if I sneeze wrong.

So, it’s been a few weeks and we’ve all had some time to mess around with adventurer plates. And I have ideas. So, here they are. (I do assume things like more colors and patterns are coming, so I won’t go into that really, but I’d like those too, for the record.)

Suggestions for Adventurer Plates:

- First, I wanna second the request to be able to save Adventurer Plate layouts. It’d let the player experiment more freely (especially as more and more options are added), easily switch layouts to compare them, or simply let them pick one according to their mood that day and easily go back to their old layout after a while.

- The ability to mirror individual elements, in addition to the overall layout.

- The ability to flip elements on their y-axis, and be able to do so independent of whether you have the layout mirrored. For example, maybe I’d like to flip the moogle accent so his pom is to the left instead of the right, but not move him or mirror or flip anything else on the plate.

- The ability to change text color, especially of the server and player name, for better readability.

- Creation of entire layouts themed towards botany, or minerals, or fishing, or the various crafts like alchemy and cooking; all the way from plate frame and backing down to the accent.

Additional accent element ideas:

- Some slight spoilers for 5.0 to 5.3:

- Azem’s Crystal.
- The different Ancients’ masks (Both specific ones like Hades’ and the generic ones).
- The Convocation’s soul crystals(individual or grouped).

- The job stones.
- Class/job symbol art.
- Chibis of in-game characters.
- More chibis of in-game minions, in addition to the current cactuar and moogle.
- Individual flowers (an Azeyma rose, a Nymeian lily, a sunflower, etc).
- A smattering of precious gems.
- A scattering of various, shiny materia.
- A spread of potion bottles and vials.
- Different fish, maybe including a talking wall-mounted bass as a gag.
- A little display of Job gear: like a rod, spear, and fish basket; a hatchet, scythe, and some plants or lumber; a frying pan and some ingredients; etc.
- Faction flags, including beast tribe symbols, the ironworks, and the heraldry of all the city states and nations we’ve met.
- Easily recognized gear like ardbert’s Bravura, Cid’s goggles, or Estinien’s red helm. Maybe relic weapons.
- The mothercrystal and “father”crystal.

I feel like the adventurer plates should allow you to visually advertise parts of the game, lore, story, and world that you really like, so that’s what I’m trying to gear my suggestions to.

Also, though I absolutely love official art and the art team, I think some community contests for layout designs would not go amiss either.
