New FC Guidelines for housing are fair, but disappointing. An unnecessary tale.

Having a new FC at level 6, and not being able to join the FC lottery makes me sad.
We were excited until we read the patch notes at 2am...:(

Should I bid on a private house for myself? or, just keep saving gil hoping that something opens up in the future?

I didn't want to recruit without an FC house, so it's just 4 of us.

Suggestions welcome!

I would as this is the best time to get any house whether personal or fc.

You're on Coeurl and so far I'm not seeing much entry activity in the FC wards so far (though it's still early in the week). Even some of the mediums are still lacking entries.

It could be there will still be some small plots left by the time your FC reaches the 30 day mark.

It shouldn't be that difficult for you and your FC mates to earn enough gil for a small in the next month so I'd say try to get a personal this week. If you manage to get one, you can add your friends as tenants to share (you're allowed up to 3 in a personal house) until you're eligible to enter for your FC and get a FC house.

Thank you Jojoya! It obviously creates a sense of urgency, so I just figured they'll all be gone the day of the lottery.
I'll try for my own small house, and hope that one of the small plots facing a wall in the corner of snow-town are still available.

Good Point, Thank you for the repsonse!

It's probably the best time to take a chance at the plot with the least people bidding on it, and with a lot more choices.

The next few lottery cycles will end up probably having many people eyeing for the few remaining plots, which is almost like getting first prize in the cactpot.

This, by FAR, should illustrate perfectly why the 75/25 split of FC/Personal was unnecessary and unwanted. The personal houses have several entries already everywhere you go. The FC houses are all but forgotten. A tale as old as time -- Housing gets designed for FCs and somewhere along the line, Square Enix decides to open the houses back up to players and the FCs get upset because players are suddenly allowed to own houses again.

Yoshi-P, if you're reading this, there are at least a couple threads about expanding apartment interiors -- one of them is mine. PLEASE do something with the apartments. They are woefully neglected.

It could well be warranted on some worlds.

SE's mistake was treating every world like it has the same needs and then applying the worst case scenario to them all. I might not have agreed with Materia players about using FCFS versus lottery, but I definitely feel for them right now considering they've been royally screwed over not just by the delayed access to housing but by the 75/25 split. A single world has more plots reserved for FCs than their entire data center has FCs while most of the players who gave up their old homes to help build the new community get cut out (unless of course they're giving up being in a FC for the sake of getting house - please look forward to it).

I had been considering possibly transferring to the new NA worlds when they get added this summer. Now, I doubt I will considering Materia's experience. While there are other parts of the game I enjoy very much, like crafting and hunts, housing is also important to me. I'm not going to bother if getting a personal house will be out of reach. I'm not going to give up what I already have for a vague promise that maybe I can get it again in some distant future or maybe not if SE would rather prioritize the solo players operating multiple shell FCs for workshops.

SE is shooting themselves in the foot with the way they're mishandling this. How many players are going to be eager to transfer their veteran characters to the new EU and NA worlds after watching what has happened to Materia? There's nothing to be gained by doing so. If they're going to end up spending all their time using data center transfer to hang out with their friends who don't transfer, there's no reason to world transfer in the first place. Might as well stay where they are.

I moved from Elemental to Materia for a full EN experience instead of a half JP/EN one. Said goodbye to my medium plot.
The 18 FC / 6 Personal Wards is understandable, but I didn't expect they will apply it throughout all the servers.

Truth to be told, I try to stay clear of FCs due to FC politics, and this is after many politics that i came across.
I guess I need to form a dummy FC with my closest friends to get a house.

I personally love cross-breeding crops, but being in a FC makes it really difficult.
Sometimes I have other FC members harvests them by mistake, and it causes a great deal of problems because I need to replace that spot for cross-breed purposes.
