The new Samurai version feels bad.
I have waited and given the job a proper try as of 6.1 After some time on a striking dummy and on a duty, I can say that the changes feel worse than I thought they would. Kaiten being gone feels bad like we all expected but with the double punch of the crit change the big hits job now feels way less impactful. I wasn't too upset about the crit changes compared to kaiten but ingame it feels way less satisfying that I had hoped. I am not a numbers person but comparing the numbers I remember a 6.1 crit midare without DH is the same or probably LOWER damage as a normal non crit/dh midare from before. It feels like a muzzle has been put on our biggest hits and the damage has been spread out between other GCDs, placing even less importance on raid buffs. Now the class is more bland. Ogi feels less affected but still a shame. The entire point of our rotation is to build towards those midares, the focus should be on those not the GCDs that build to them. Additionally the amount of shinten spam is concerning. It feels like busy work with all the kenki you have and shinten isn't a cool enough skill to use so often. Before it was a nice balance between two skills with different uses now it's mindless spam of one skill. "ITs NoT MiNDleSS OpTimiZe TheM UNdER BuFfS"
I am sadly switching to Monk, maybe reaper this patch. Hopefully these changes are reverted ASAP. I am POSITIVE you will see a considerable reduction of sam players compared to the great 6.0 iteration of the job.
