is my house safe?

My personal house is in ward 2 of the goblet. I spent untold amounts of time trying (several weeks and far too many hours) to get it, am I going to log in without a home? Am I going to be forced to enter a relo lottery? :(

It was a source of absolute anxiety trying to get, and now it's back cause I'm worried about being punished after finally getting one..

They usually grandfather in existing owners (for example, people still owning multiple houses), so your house will be safe. That being said, if you were to relinquish your plot/have it auto-demolished or if you relocated to a different plot, the plot would be subject to the FC-lock.

With the behaviour so far, every house that already stands, keep it's way.
If you decide to free the space, it will turn into FC only plot.

Can you imagine the backlash if SE kicked people out of their homes? Yeah, no way they're changing that.

This will mostly affect those that might choose to relinquish their plot for some reason... and especially when auto demolition is turned back on. The very bleak prospects are for those looking to join the housing market as an individual. If you're in already, as long as you don't let auto demo take your house, you're good to go.

Existing personal houses in wards 1-18 will remain grandfathered. If you vacate, relocate or the house gets demo'd, it will go up on the lotto as FC only then.

Well some of the grandfather haters here on this forum might suggest they all get booted after all there are new rules which should be applied to all.

And seriously I wonder if the 1 to 18 designation will remain or if they will allow for mixed wards further down the line. I suspect the later where mixed will apply but I could be wrong.

Most likely they will eventually open up the other wards to personal housing, much like they did for previous land releases that started FC only.

The FC only/Private only stuff is a purchase restriction and has no affect on already owned plots.

The old housing areas are being grandfathered in to the new system, meaning you won't lose anything, so don't worry. It just means that, say, one of your neighbors gets a plot in the Ishgard lotto and they move. Their plot now can only be bid on for fc housing.
