Doing the fight and learning! they usually introduce the Raidwide early in the fight to prepare for the next one!

Best way to learn is to Nikey it and Just Do It, No one will blame you if you didn't know X was a Raidwide, and usually they wont flat out kill anyone*

*Circumstances apply such as Savage/EX/Gear/Vulns/Etc

Pay attention to the abilities names they cast. You'll learn over time what does what.

The guess game is part of the appeal dude. You see the cast bar, you know something is coming, but you have no idea what. You can only do fight blind once. Embrace the naivety.

To add, the name of the cast can also hint if it's a tankbuster or raidwide. Some examples:

Sigma V2
Demonic Shear (Tankbuster)
Demonic Howl (Raidwide)

Sigma V3
Arm & Hammer (Tankbuster)
Diffractive Laser (Raidwide)

Eden 3
Rip Current (Tankbuster)
Tidal Roar (Raidwide)

Double Slap (Tankbuster)
Absolute Zero / Diamond Frost (Raidwide)

Can you see the pattern?

There are some casts that still have vague names or have a specific jargon by itself (like Ala Morn / Akh Morn) but that's where the fun in learning comes from.

There is usually at least one raid-wide and at least one tank buster. The raid-wide cast shouldn't kill anyone at full health unless they have vulnerability stacks. Once you see a cast that hurts the whole party, you can mitigate before it every time and get used to the sequence it goes through before casting it again.

The only time where mitigation is needed for them is high-end duties such as savage and wiping is a part of these.

It's not just the responsibility of the healer to mitigate, but the tanks'. A tank should try to use Reprisal and area mitigation. These are not available for all raid-wides but if they are not using them and there is a wipe, it's not just the healers that should be thinking of what to do differently, but the tanks as well. DPS can mitigate to a lesser degree, but they have longer recast times, sometimes lower reduction and it's not their primary role to mitigate.
