14 is the MMO where you can play every job on one character. The problem is you can’t gear every job on that character bc the tomestones are capped at 450. It takes way too long to get best in slot on one job. Doubling the weekly cap (or cutting the cost of everything by half) would do so much to make gearing feel better.

I'd be all for cutting the cost in half after a certain time period, say 8 weeks into a raid tier, so we can have some fun with gearing alt classes.

From what I've seen, the Tomestone cap isn't really the biggest limiter unless you're actively trying to farm tome gear on multiple jobs for Savage. Increasing it wouldn't hurt, but IMO, easier access to augmenting materials pre-6.1 would be nice to have, as the only way to actually get them at the moment is through sheer luck in Savage reclears, or farming books for a month on a specific fight for a specific augment material. If you play, say Dancer, your BiS requires 5 separate augment materials, and because of the weekly restrictions, if you clear even once and don't win both the RNG of an augment material dropping, plus the roll itself (or aren't a priority in a static), you're all but locked out of making any BiS progress for an entire week.

It's set to this based on an estimate on how long the average player (not the good players) would take to get through savage tier raids.
So it's going to let you get a full set in approximately how long an average skilled player would take to prog through all four floors of savage and gear up their one job.
People have asked for this since 2.0 and the answers always been the same: No, if you want more gear go do savage. -

They DO increase the cap, eventually.
The slowdown is intentional, and it'll stop slowing you when the time for it is passed. -
