what takes so long

Why does a hot fix that takes 10 seconds to download and another 10 seconds to install take an hour on SE's end?

Maybe the reboot of the servers , if they need to patch the servers too.. who knows.

So much fail in so few posts...exempting wolfsspirit.

just so you know, restarting a server cluster isn't like restarting your pc
