Glam Idea
You know how we have the /visor command and some helmets come with additional functionality?
Could we have a /hood function as well that allows us to equip the hoods on our ponchos/jackets/robes.
Activating this would simply hide the headgear and change the body model to have a hood.

Man I wish. Weird to wear a hooded hat when the robe has a hood sometimes tbh. Personally my copium is that I wish we had separate slots for pants/tights.

Oh definetely! I'd love to have the hood for the WHM AF1 body piece (Healer's Robe) be able to be raised (enemy undead WHMs in Lost City of Amdapor HM actually have their hoods up like that so the model actually exists!) for a start, but the big one I'd especially love this sort of functionality to be added is the Sophist's Robe, gained in EW's storyline - specifically not just being able to raise the hood but also wear the mask as well (sure you can wear an existing mask with it, but as the robe already has a mask hanging off the front of the wearer's chest, it looks rather redundant and silly doing so).
Of course it would probably be tricky to get working so as not to clip with headgear the player may actually be wearing (or adding to client/server processing by adding extra requirements for the client to hide headgear while the hood is up), but it's something I would love to see added (to say nothing of the part of the game that item was actually gained specifically requires the hood and mask to be worn down for lore reasons in that particular area, but I digress). :)
Please Yoshi!

I assume it's rather too complicated to build a "hood up" system because they keep making robes with detached hoods instead.
I think I'd rather see a more general "remove one part of the body gear model" setting (eg. turn off skirts or pauldrons or dangly pieces) that in this case could switch off the hanging hood, and with a corresponding head piece to wear in its place.
As for the Sophist's Robe, I'd be happy with getting a second maskless version of the robe and the separate mask as headwear, since those already exist and are worn by a number of NPCs. But the devs are a bit funny with quest rewards sometimes - giving us one version of NPC gear but never the other. There's an alternate design for every piece of the Crystarium guard armour, for example, but we only get the one given to us.
