A Plea to those that like to be obscene in Castrum

This has happened more times than I can count, and so I've decided to say something about it. I'm not here to ruin anyone's fun (I'm really not a Karen despite what you might conclude), because, honestly, things have a time and place, and generally speaking, I don't usually have a problem with this. But there are those times where things just aren't appropriate.

I'm talking about the MSQ Castrum dungeon, and the "tradition" of people putting up CID obscenities via markers. You know what I mean: D*C, and D*CBA4.

Now, normally, I don't even care, in fact it can be amusing. However, in certain circumstances, you guys (and gals) need to stop and be mindful of everyone else playing.

Specifically speaking, there are times when I'm playing the game where I have children present that can easily view my screen. I have literally zero privacy with how my house is setup because of it's small size. My computer is right out in the main room, facing out for everyone to see - and there is nowhere else it can be. That said, when you place those giant markers (and God do they stand out) that spell these obscenities, I have to remove them right away, or face the prospect of my children seeing them and then asking me "Dad, what is a D*C", or "Dad, what is a D*CBA4".

Conversations that should not be needed at this point in their life.

So, if you're in that particular MSQ, and you put those markers up and they get removed...don't perpetuate yourself as being *that person* by just throwing them back up...perhaps ask why they were removed instead.

Honestly, given SE's stance on language, I'm surprised they even allow this. They should probably just change all markers to shapes and be done with it. Granted, once my kids are old enough, it isn't even going to matter anymore. But for now, it does.

Certainly I cannot be the only one here?

turn your camera away from the markers lol or just zoom in on the ground/closer to your character

I don't like people turning the firmament/limsa into the barrens chat but it's one of those things you accept when playing an MMO this day and age. At most you can find out who's dropping them and then ignore them from that one menu that lists the last 50 people you played with.

Seriously, be a parent and stop trying to Disnify the entire world.

If your kids can read it they already know the words. Infact I would even say they probably already use a lot worse language when you aren't around.
I've met 3 year olds who drop the F, S, and C bomb often.

And if my kids were to ask, I’d just show them(not tell) that they are markers we can place to tell people where to stand..and that I honestly don’t know why someone is arranging them in the way they are.

What do you have against DIC? They produced some of the most well remembered cartoon franchises of the 80 and 90s.

DICBAG- Castrum has been saved in my markers for 5 years.

It doesn't help that there are social landmines in the west as well. When I drive to work I see a giant billboard that is solid white and black text that reads "Have you talked to your child about SEX?". I'm just thinking, "Well, now I am. Thanks billboard. :/" At this point just keep the younger ones off the net. It's just common sense, lol.

Exactly, I completely get what you mean. Toxic gamers are ruining it for responsible parents who just want to unwind. I had to stop playing M-rated Call of Duty in my living room because I'm just trying to have fun killing tons of soldiers and sandbagging their corpses on my 60-inch TV with loud surround sound so that my wife can hear the bullets piercing through my enemies but some random 14 year old is going to shout "c*m" and my 11 year old kid asked me what that means and I don't know how to explain it.
