Let AST throw cards, Urianger style

This is the card throw in question.

Get rid of Undraw, throw it in the garbage, set the garbage on fire, and flush the ashes down the toilet. Then break the toilet with a sledgehammer.

And replace it with a spell that lets you throw the card instead, Urianger style.

It can be a quick off-GCD spell that still retains the functionality of Undraw (for the 3 people who even have it on their bars) but does damage. It can even have unique effects depending on the thrown card; Balance can do fire damage, Bole can add a poison DOT, etc.

I'd rather not have another card skill to squeeze into my xhotbars. Undraw is currently totally useless, which is great, because that's one less skill to worry about.

I mean it's not a bad idea but you know people will hate it because "muh RNG" and the way AST currently works it's still better to just buff a DPS with a seal you already have than to discard it for a attack of varying degree of power.

I'm ok with it as an auto attack, never understood why healers have to melee upclose for autos instead of passively throwing something that would ultimately add up to their damage output.

You mean yes please, more gameplay options, of course. And they could take this opportunity to consolidate card draws and plays.

No, AST has far too many buttons as it is.
Just give casters a ranged autoattack and have this be ASTs version.

It doesn't though, it has bloat in the form of distinct draw and play. The rest is standard fare.

Even if you combined draw and play, you still have: major arcana (targetted), minor arcana, divination and astrodyne, all of which are fluff damage buffs which combined intend to make up the lost dps compared to say Misery or Phlegma, which they still don't.
You want to add in another fluff damage skill to compete with existing cards.
It would be better to just use that card on yourself and spam Malefic.

I don't see what you mean by fluff, they are all relatively good skills. The healer gameplay is for the most part already condensed into a single button as it is. I'd rather have all these and make even more use of the cards design.

The problem is they're all oGCD skills you need to weave at the same time as weaving oGCD heals, it's far too much to deal with, and you're still spamming Malefic 95% of the time anyway.
Malefic (card, card, heal) > Malefic (Divination, card) > Malefic (heal, card) > Malefic (card, heal) > ... sticking a 'Throw Card' into one of those brackets isn't adding anything.
If they were GCD skills, then maybe it would make it 'more interesting' instead of just being fluff skills, but then you need to make sure they're worth more than just spamming Malefic, and that's not going to happen for card buffs.
If you could discard a card for more damage than a Malefic, then you'd never use them on players for their damage buff, and if the buff itself was a GCD and gave the other dps more damage than a Malefic, they'd be broken for burst damage during raids.

However, the problem is still that there's functionally no point in Undrawing a card anyway, let alone undrawing it by throwing it at an enemy for some minor damage. If that was an option, it would have to be inferior to using the card as a buff anyway, and then there would still be no point in doing so.
There's simply never any reason to not simply use the card on a dps party member. Even if for some reason you're holding onto an Astrodyne with 3 different seals, it's STILL more efficient to just use that card on a dps for 6% damage on them and lose your tier 3 Astrodyne, than it is to discard that card for a 5% damage buff on your own piddly little Malefics. More efficient still to just use your tier 3 Astrodyne early before you use the card buff.
