great hunt after stat squish

Just tried to solo The great hunt solo tonight, only to realise that the stat squish has ruined the ability to farm it solo atleast if your a tank. The bull that needs to die, to stop your insta death just wont die fast enough :(

Tried to solo it on Extreme as a reaper, but in the second phase he just kept spamming the stack marker and I couldn't keep up with it. Is he supposed to do that, or does the RNG that determines his next attack just hate me?

You can just respawn, it just counts as 1 death / 3 and you can still continue then

He enraged at like 15% for me, but I was only lvl80 DRK, so I think it should be possible for lvl 90

Pretty sure the stack marker is always intended to hit several times consecutively, no?

I think it's supposed to go three times in a row. It was going for me nine or more in a row.

Yep, multiple hits that leave spicy lava puddles behind.

As a tangent, I find SMN to be very good for Rathalos, either difficulty, due to high mobility plus shields. MCH and BRD probably work well too but have no shields for the stack markers. When soloing him he'll charge at you a lot of course, no one else to target, so the range plus ability to dps on the move helps a lot.

Mch is easy and bard. Bard has dispel as well if your stacks get out of hand. I'm not sure if one cycle is doable yet but it might be in raids .

Killing the bull is easy as a tank.

I can't kill him fast enough in the final phase with all the knockdowns is my problem.

You can't solo it. If you can't kill the bull as a tank, that's on you. It's definitely doable. But that's not the problem.

The problem is afterwards, he has a damage reduction buff that makes it impossible to finish him off. You need to hit him to make him drop, and then burst him down. If you fail to kill him then, you won't be able to drop him down again before enrage.

I've tried multiple times, with different jobs. The best I've gotten is 15%. Don't waste your time. Bring at least one other person. lol
