Settings needs an overhaul, badly

How many menu can you think of that have their own settings? Character settings, system settings, HUD & Layout manager, etc...

It's everywhere and very disorganized. Where you think something might be, it ends up not being there. There's like 3 or 4 different locations just to configure different game pad / keyboard settings.

I'm hoping that a consolidation / overhaul project happens one day because it can easily be better. New features were added over time and it wasn't always this confusing but now it's cumbersome.

I can think of two or three settings that are in the wrong place, but overall, the settings menus are mostly okay. They could use a few tweaks, but an overhaul would be overkill.

I wouldn't say overkill because if everything was inside one screen instead of 4, then it would reduce the amount of thinking on where you need to start from. Afterwards, organizing everything neatly inside said screen would take a lot of thinking but it can be done. I just don't like how for example you have so many menu screens to configure the game controller / keybinds. Where was it exactly? I don't know, I forgot.... Or the UI stuff is all over the place. It's strange. It could be better structured and laid out on screen. I know they have to deal with character specific settings versus global settings but then why are options character specific? Fluidity? In reality people just go through and configure everything by hand on each new character the same way they made their previous character. But there would be some people relying on character specific configurations so they will have to account for this. Unfortunately it's not an easy problem to solve but I have faith since they are masters at this sort of thing. Growing up, Square Enix was always a huge inspiration for me and even to this day, they still stand out. Unfortunately, I think -- FF14 could use modern improvements with its UI and it's really nice that they listen to feedback and improve on what they can every now and then. Here's hoping!

Mm. Personally, I like how in depth the settings go (and they all work, which really shouldn't be taken for granted). I play other online games sometimes and they offer so little in terms of customizing the UI, and what's there might not even work because so few people use it (or so the devs believe) that the devs can't be bothered to even QA it.

It might be fine to say it could be reorganized but I definitely don't want to see a bunch of settings disappear in the name of consolidation.
