No trash mobs contribute to EXP anymore, It's bosses only no matter how many you clear beforehand.
They remove all EXP from non-boss mobs in dungeons, but applied that removed EXP to the boss(es) as additional EXP on the boss kill, so it evens out to the same.
Kinda works out even better for a few dungeons and the MSQ Praetorium as there are a few trash mob packs or sections of the dungeon that could be skipped, which would have previously resulted in less EXP than a "kill all" run, that can now still be skipped, but resulting in a "kill all" level of EXP.
On the other hand, "optimal" clears of most ARR dungeons (since no barriers) is now -> pull everything, the party (w/o tank) starts the boss/miniboss & the tank just teleports in, resetting all enemies as they can no longer reach you.
Bosses are the only enemies that gives EXP now.
That said, it's largely academic outside ARR dungeons since you generally have to kill everything to progress anyway.
