In-game Chat Delay
Has anyone else experienced this strange delay on messages in your chat boxes?
I keep seeing party members messages appear after dungeons end usually 30-40 seconds I've left the instance, or a flood of messages all at once during Eureka/Bozja instances. I have been experiencing this since the release of 5.5.
Any ideas on what could be causing something like this to happen? I have re-installed FF14 several times and used different ISPs/routers/modems but nothing seems to work.

Greetings fellow Eorzean,
We apologize for the inconvenience with chat delay issues on Final Fantasy XIV. To better assist you, please respond with the following requested information:
Platform? (Steam/Windows/PS4/PS5/Mac etc.)
Wired or wireless connection:
Internet Service Provider:
Region/Location: (your actual region not in game)
Separate Modem and Router or Hybrid?
Are you using a Firewall/Anti-virus solution? If so, which ones?
Does the issue only happen with specific characters or all characters?
Have you tried deleting the "Documents\My Games\Final Fantasy XIV\" folder then rerunning the game?
Does an error message/code pop up when this issue happens?
Does the game slow down or lag when this issue appears to happen or does any significant cue or relative sign in game happen before the issue occurs?
We look forward to your reply back.

Windows
Wired connection
Internet Service Provider: Spectrum
Region: Southern California
Using a separate Modem and Router
I am using the default Windows Firewall settings but have given access to FF14 launcher and EXE.
This happens on all characters I've used and across different Data Centers. Aether and Primal.
I have deleted the FF14 folder in My Games on each fresh install.
No error messages pop up when this happens.
I have had lag and other issues, but they don't seem related to this problem as it happens practically the whole time I'm logged in.

I've also been having this same issue for the last few months. PS5, wired connection, separate modem and router, also in the southern CA region. Issue persisted across different ISPs, different equipment, wireless and wired connections, all data centers and characters. The chat lag is the only lag I'm getting. My wife can be playing on the exact same setup with no issues, and it happens whether we're both on or not.

Greeting fellow Eorzean,
Based on the information provided, it's more than likely an issue with a specific port or connection being blocked in some way that the data carries through the chat function in game for Final Fantasy XIV. Please try the following suggestions:
1) Check the settings of security functions (such as SPI) for your router. Also, please forward the ports used for the game. The ports are listed below.
*For details, please consult with the manufacturer of your router.
▼TCP
54992~54994
55006~55007
55021~55040
2) Try bypassing the router entirely and directly wire into the modem to see if the same issue occurs.
3) If you modem and router need firmware updates, please try updating them to the latest version and see if that has any affect.
We hope this information is helpful in resolving your issue.
Thank you for contacting the Final Fantasy XIV Technical Support Forums.

Port Forwarding doesn't seem to have changed anything at all. I had a friend on Discord test this for me by sending me a message through tells and received the message about 30 seconds after saying he sent it.
Sadly, I can't connect directly into my modem as it only allows one ethernet cable to run directly into the router which is what I'm connected to. I have tried swapping out the Spectrum provided modem and router for my own purchased ones but was not able to get them to work even with technical support.
Both the modem and router have an automated updating system that I see happen every two or three months when the "service" light lights up and reboots both the modem and router.
