NPC Companions
As the title says I would love to see some NPC companions make their way to FFXIV. I know we are getting chocobo's but, I would want to able to get some of the npc's in the game to help you if you build some kind of trust with them.
This little lady here is Nenekko from the miner quest grew on me so much, I loved her little story and it would be awesome if i could adventure with her like she offers you in the quest.

I think this would be a great feature to add because I personally didn't like my partner in main story quest, she was a sack of potatoes to me.

Or like in PSO2 we could summon offline LS members as AI partners(you can set your character's temper, tactics, etc and he/she acts according to settings when summoned)

I liked Nenekko too! That story line was so awesome!
I'd have to go with Hildibrand though. That dude is too awesome to NOT hang out with! /pose *thinks of all the cases we'd solve together*

I realise we already have this feature anyway, but this concept seems somewhat displaced from the concept of an MMO. It sort of encourages solo playstyles, and also would require a lot of investment of development to give concept importance. Just being realistic.

I think it isn't - that bad - of an idea to make your path companion a bit more useful.
Stuff like being able to summon him/her to help with guildleves (which are already set up as a primarily solo leveling content) and improving the main storyline missions where we have it would be a good start.

Before they do that they would have to update the companion's abilities. They still have pre 1.8 abilities for their attacks.

Would be great if my companion helped me get into totorak

I always figured path companions would eventually be like XI's where you can level them abd take them along for a set time. I don't think they should be available all the time like TOR's but they are cool to have and it gives your player that much more connection to the world like a house does.
