Complex High-End Glamour Fans vs Simple Low-Level Glamour Enthusiasts

I'm a simple man. I put a Manor Shirt and some dingy, level 20 cloth gloves on my body and I roll with it, confident in the fact that I'm styling infinitely more than the person who has the Odin helmet and a Savage weapon on with a schoolgirl shirt and 2B leggings.

Is it because lower-level items tend to dye better than higher level ones? Sometimes. Is it because robes and other complex gear looks like garbage on Roegadyn so I opted for a simplistic look? Maybe.

But one thing is for certain: Not only does keeping it simple help me feel like I stand out most amongst a game of Alphinauds and Thancreds, but it also helps me keep a consistent theme without having to rely on gathering a single complete set of gear. I just wish I could find a scimitar better than these level 35 ones.

Are you a complex high-end glamour fan, or a simple low-level glamour enthusiast?

Low level - Mid level enthusiast here. I use mostly event outfits and crafted glamours and put together a set that looks good for my job/holiday it is.

I just go with what fits my character, that's a lot of reds and blacks (goes best with pink hair) and flowy stuff. It can be high lvl or low lvl, light farming or (73 runs of saintwhatever for the casting coat) farming.

Other glams, like I have 2 winter ones, and the BLU/PLD Cop one (because that quest line was so annoying I felt like I had to do something with the hat).

So it varies?

Combining items from all level ranges tends to be how I go with my glamours. I find stuff I like, see what fits with it based on my character, and roll with that. Like my SGE glam is using some event items, some sub-50 quest rewards(pretty sure that's when it was received), and a level 50 raid item(just look at my lodestone profile and that's it there). One of the pieces is even from a promotion done with Amazon some years ago.

Have you tried the Ala Mhigan Kilij and it's level 76 counterpart? Those are pretty decent looking scimitars.

I'm a grey item glamour enthusiast. I especially like mixing items from the Job's gear sets with each other and a few staples like thighboots or a corsage. High-end items for sure look impressive but somehow I've never enjoyed the loaded look too much.

Bro, that looks dope. Guess I'll have to start doing Hunts now.

I wish they took a little bit more inspiration from spanish or french 16th-18th century costumes for men expecially. I always wanted to make an all-show, over the top, bulky, classy, exquisite outfit. I crave for some short capes on a stuffed shirt with a massive pleated collar on top. Oh, and a musketeer-like hat would be very nice. I know that some pieces ingame already represent older-looking garments, but most of them are obscure and don't fit well with each other. I think the best we got on that would be Ishgardian fashion and that's sad, because, in my opinion, this weird mixture of gothic and baroque designs doesn't really dive deeper in any of those.

Both to one degree or another. The most complex/mix-and-match glamour is my current DRG one. In order to find something that matched the Law's Order spear sufficiently, I had to do quite a bit of digging in my glamour dresser to find appropriate items as well as go through a number of dyes to find the right one. This turned out to be the Baron Helmet, Behemoth Queen chest, and High Steel arms and legs. The next most difficult to gather glamour is the whole Valerian Dragoon set from Neverreap matched with a Bronze Spear.

Other than those two, I've generally stuck with full AF sets or different tops with the same bottoms and the like to assuage my need for uniformity and consistency.

Something similar exists in Holminster Switch for Mnk/Sam and NIN, as well as for caster, healers and aiming. If those arent ourcgaseable via MB, i recall that one of the amdapor dungeons (the one with the jester boss that also shows up in dun scaith) also drops those for the latter.


As for the main topic, i usually dont care what other people wear, but if i had to judge, id say that the whole picture matters. Casual Modern clothing is a straight "bad glam" flag for me, outside of making a Meme glam (for example, trying to look like a character from another game), as well as anyone using 2B boots/leggings and the Dhalmel Top or wearing a entire Armorset.

Before anyone starts shouting at me gor the full armorset part, there is a difference between simply looking good and having a good glamour. Glamour requires in my opinion for you to put at least a little effort into composing something new entirely, or else it simply:
