FINAL FANTASY XIV 1.22a ~ Update Error 20524 (An update error has occured)

I've never had a problem such as this arise before and I'm downloading the patch on time as I did with all previous patches.

Every time I download the patch via the auto updater it comes up with that little box error in the picture below each time.

I've tried a few methods to download the latest patch and they all come up with the same error.

I've checked the forums for any and all recent posts of anyone having the same issue and found nothing. So I'm assuming it's just me who's currently having this issue.

I can't download the patch, so therefore, I can't play the game, and that is no good.

I figured creating this post for a community rep to find and look into would possibly help me with my problem ASAP.

Should I reinstall my game? Should I just wait patiently and keep trying? Maybe a program is causing it to not download properly?

Whatever the problem may be, I don't have the answer to nor the direct cause of the error at hand.

I just can't imagine why such a small and fairly insignificant patch, compared to previous ones, would be the only issue I've ever had to face with an updater!?

I found an old thread when digging around and discovered a solution. Scroll down after clicking the link I posted to see the post that helped me get the patch working!

Here's what FF XIV Lodestone user Grit posted while helping another fellow player! It may help you too:

"Under Program Files (x86), locate the Square Enix\FFXIV folder. In that folder you'll find your game.ver file. Open the files with notepad, and change the date to that of the most recent update:

2011.04.21.0000


Back the file up on your desktop before doing this. Be sure to hit save before closing the file. If you get an "access denied" error, you may need to copy the file to your desktop first, save it, then stick it back in your FFXIV folder."
