MIN and BTN should both have FSH like methods of gathering used for them.

Hear me out; Fishing is currently the most interactive of the 3 DoL jobs, to this not many can debate. Fishing has the best lore of the three due to it being about actual living things that matter to the in-game world.

I believe that if BTN and MIN were to be improved, they should both get FSH like mini-game reworks that are made unique, with BTN focusing on insect and fauna collecting via Bug Net and MIN focusing on Fossil collection via Chisel and Brush.

Thoughts and opinions? I think this would be an interesting direction to go with for Gathering, and allow the writing and sprite team some flexing space for some more interesting points of writing focus.

No thanks. The Gold Saucer shows us what sort of mini-games SE would likely develop for the other gathering jobs.

(In case you don't know, the Out on a Limb and The Finer Miner mini-games were how gathering was done back in 1.0)

And where would this new equipment go? They've already got main-hand and off-hand equipment.

I guess I can see your point ; but FSH logs is not good
I guess they could rework it in the Collection menu ; Because right now looking for one of thousands of fishes is a pain.
So sorry, but i'd rather they fix FSH before going for other jobs

As for implementation of your idea : like said by Hasrat ; there is no slot for new equipment.
What would be "easy" would be adding hidden items to the nodes with a "collection-like" minigame ; you'd be able to spread that to any node with a free slot and it wouldn't affect bott stardard gathering

I certainly wouldn't mind another method of gathering on top of what we have currently, with a mini-game style thing.
But at the same time, fishing is as it is because fishing itself is kind of a fun side game for collectors, it's not a DoL job like the other two.

If you asked me what's the point of MIN and BTN it's to get materials used for crafting, maps, and turn-ins for scripts that can sometimes get you a reward like a decoration.
If you asked me what's the point of FSH, it's that it's kinda fun to fill out your log, catch those rare timed fish, compare to other people that also do it, etc. It's kind of it's own reward mostly.

So I think when they add stuff that makes FSH take a bit longer, or have more mechanics to interface with it's more fun than anything. Adding stuff to go through for MIN when all I want is to get a giant pile of magical fruity pebbles to turn into equipment later might just be seen as annoying and time-wastey. It was like that in 1.0 and I feel like they changed it for that reason alongside the minigames were just not good to begin with.

But like I said, I wouldn't mind a new additional method of gathering that's more involved, that sounds kinda cool actually.
