At this point even a in-game special movie or a Animated movie (akin to FF15's Brotherhood) as a re-imagined story of 1.0.
1.0 is important in a lot of ways, and sets the scene for ARR.
I don't think its a good look that 1.0 is only preserved through youtube.

12-20-2021, 03:14 PMEnkidohActually, SE already did this back when ARR was launched - the Collector's Edition of ARR included a bonus DVD called 'The Waning of the Sixth Sun' that featured a compendium of some, but not, all, the most important story cutscenes from 1.0, and then almost all were involving the Seventh Umbral Era events that ended the game. The original starting city cutscenes and the Path of the Twelve story were for the most part conspicuously absent (I presume this was because ideas and concepts from the starting city story/Path of the Twelve story were being utilized for ARR's then new scenario so SE did not want to spoil things for new players.Quote:

the story from OG 1.0 launch to just before Yoshi-p was brought on board was almost essentially abandoned. Only a few points made it through into rest of what we know (mostly the parts about Minfilia and Thancred's part). the rest from really ramping up Garlemald and Louisoix was mostly covered in the disc included in ARR.

The thing about the story of 1.0 is that it's categorically not the current team's story, and things about it changed once it changed hands. Not main-story stuff, which to my knowledge mostly held and the events of such are made clear as relevant events, but a lot of the side stuff were tweaked to fit the new direction.
To an extent, 1.0 isn't their story to tell, nor is it necessarily a story that helps. -

The only knowledge you need of 1.0 to understand the current story is broad strokes. The more you dive into the story of 1.0, the more you see the disparity between the current story and the story of 1.0. It had a very different vision of the world and the characters.

Most of the major lingering plot lines have been cleaned up by now, but they still pop up every now and then and I'm glad I watched all the scenes on youtube.
It would be nice to have a Wings of the Goddess type expansion one day to let us go through it, remade in the new aesthetic.
The Waning of the Sixth Sun was decent as a summary, but isn't exactly satisfying. -
