Still have quest item after handing it over

1. Accept quest "Tikka Hike" from Auri Girl
2. Locate Auburn-haired Au Ra
3. Wait at destination for Hungry Sotormurg to appear
4. Defeat Hungry Sotormurg
5. Speak to Auburn-haired Au Ra
6. Hand over Chunk of Sotormurg Meat
7. Check key items inventory, Chunk of Sotormurg Meat still exists in inventory

I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended. The item is removed when you complete the quest, I just found it odd that you still had it after handing it over.
