Hello,
I'm having a very tough time trying to get a meld request so someone explain it for me please. I have the gear unequipped, the materia I want, the correct slot, and the catalyst. Now, no option gives me to request meld for materia and I'm confused.
Do I NEED to complete the initial materia quest before I can request melds?
Yes, you need to do the initial Materia quest and get a materia assimilator. You can take a look here under "Converting items into Materia".
All you need is anything at L18+ to accept the quest and a spiritbound piece of gear to convert to finish the quest (You can't convert until you've accepted it). If you already have a piece of gear to convert you can finish the quest in 10 seconds.
