Upgraded to Windows 11 and all voice acting sounds very quiet and echo-y.

To preface:

1) I have checked and updated all of my game/audio drivers. All are up to date.
2) I have tried switching back and forth from fullscreen to borderless windowed, as that was a previous bug some have encountered. Nothing changed.
3) I have closed and reopened the game. I have also restarted my computer a couple times. Nothing changed.

Is there anything else I am missing? I noticed this immediately upon reaching the first voiced cutscene in Praetorium. I could barely hear Gaius, but the music and skill effects were working just fine. Notably, I could hear both Gaius and Lahabrea just fine during battle and character voices are working just fine outside of any cutscenes.

I also checked random cutscenes in an inn room, and all of those have the same problem as the ones in Praetorium. Music/effects are fine, voice acting quiet and echo-y or non-existent altogether.

Is this a bug with Windows 11? I know that the official version of FFXIV for 11 is not out quite yet, but... is there a fix for now? Or do I have to downgrade back to 10?

UPDATE:

I have found a fix! I uninstalled and reinstalled the game lol. Turns out, it was the installation of windows 11 that prompted this issue, and all I had to do was remove the game and then add it and let it download all of the updates. So if you're having this same issue after switching to the new OS, I recommend doing this.

Do you have a surround sound set up? (5.1/7.1). If so check the centre speaker settings as there might be a mix option or something like that in your audio card settings. All cutscene voice for this game comes through the centre speaker and usually when people say about voice issues, it's to do with surround sound/centre channel not being set up correctly.

I will tell you that this is most likely has nothing to do with the game.

Last windows 9 to 10 update had a major sound issue as well. People were told not to upgrade until necessary. Also, first couple of windows 11 patches will probably be bug fixes to everything in the universe cause I have yet to see a smooth change from Microsoft.

If you still feel it is a game issue, I would suggest open a ticket, they might be able to help you.

Otherwise try contacting Microsoft saying that after update the audio doesnt work. Or open a ticket on that side.

Most importantly, if you find a solution, then get back to the forum and tell the folks :D

I use HyperX wireless headphones, which have been working beautifully. As for your suggestion, I can't seem to find actual advanced sound mixing options? Windows has really gone overboard with simplifying literally everything like Apple does, which is very very frustrating IMO. You used to be able to find shit way easier orz.

I'm pretty sure this is probably a bit of both. I know that they do not have a full version of FFXIV for Windows 11 up yet, though it is capable of running on the new OS. There are probably things they have to update with the game client for it to match up perfectly.

And yeah, I have never seen a smooth change from Microsoft either lol.

I will probably open a ticket with both, and update if I find anything. I'm likely not the only person experiencing this, so if my example can be of some help to ppl, why not?
