After reaching 90 on my gatherers and gearing up, I went out to make some gil.
Every node I found was for a collectable item, Rarefied High Durium Ore. I did this about 8 times in a row,
Ok, but was looking for stuff to sell, not more white scrips, so I switched to BOT, and the nodes were normal.
Switched back to MIN, and got normal nodes this time around.
Assuming it was a glitch.. If it had happened with purple scrip items, I might have been tempted to continue collecting them..
Collectables and both types of scrip are fundamental systems for endgame gathering. If you're wondering where the level 90 legendary nodes are, you have to turn in enough white scrip collectables to purchase the book for each node (3 for MIN, 3 for BTN, 3 for FSH). Each book requires 16 "C" tokens, and each token costs 100 white scrips. So you'll need to farm 1600 white scrips for each book. Once you purchase a book it'll open up the legendary node but you'll either need to look up when and where it pops or find it on your own. The mats gathered from these nodes will be required to craft the new gear coming out with Savage. Otherwise you can gather the sub-90 mats and sell those on the marketplace, but a reminder that mats from here on out (until 7.0) will be locked behind the collectable and scrip systems.
During SHB they changed the way Collectables work.
The old way with Collectable toggle is no longer a thing except for FSH. For MIN/BTN, every item is now either ONLY normal or ONLY collectable (as noted by the collectable symbol on the node list), the latter automatically bringing up the new collectables gathering window when you attempt to gather it. Similarly for crafters you no longer craft collectable versions of regular items, but rather dedicated collectable-only items.
The nodes themselves do not appear any different on the map, and Lay of the Land does not differentiate when guiding you to the nearest one, either, so if you are near a cluster of collectable-only nodes that's where it will point you. Can be a bit obnoxious if you're looking for the regular version, I'll admit (much like the first rollout of Ishgard Skybuilders materials in ShB, prior to the rerelease of Diadem they were scattered around the zones in similarly dedicated nodes).
It's not uncommon for the Miner and Botanist node layouts in an area to be very disparate, so it's also rather uncommon that you'll find the collectable nodes for both in the same part of a zone. I'm guessing you moved around before switching back to MIN? So you probably were in an area with collectable mining nodes, switched to BTN, found normal trees (possibly having to move around to get to them), then switched back to MIN and were in an area with regular item nodes.
