Is it possible to stop error 2002 from closing the client?

I waited in queue for 2.5 hours tonight. Logged in at 7pm and got into the game at 9:30 pm. Had to log back in 3 times due to disconnects while in queue, but was able to get back in to my original spot. Happy to get in at 9:30pm since that gives me a good 2 hours to play.

I get disconnected at 10:00 pm. I try to log back in and get the error 2002, which closes my client.

Launch the game fresh and go to log in. The game can detect my character is still online. Rather than saving that same spot for me and letting me back in, it logs me out and sets me in position 5020.

My night is effectively wasted. I understand the congestion is crazy and the team is doing everything they can, but is there anything that can be done to address disconnecting? Either saving that spot when the character is detected or not closing the client when error 2002 is detected?
