I am really attached to my characters look and feel. Even his face and its expressions. He has a story, a history. But seeing these boy buns running around really look awesome. Would I be betraying my warrior of light if I changed him? I can backup the character appearence in the UI to go back if I ever wanted to right?

Was a bunny too but changed back after 3 days because of hairstyles (great lenghts is my favourite hairstyle in the game) and I wanted to do the MSQ with my elezen (feels better). Are you already did the MSQ? If not I would do the mainstory with your miqo'te and than change to viera, you can always change back.
you dont have to change your character into a bun just make an alt then you can have both

I changed from my elezen and I really enjoy how gear looks on my character now.

I did the MSQ on my main Elezen and then swapped him to bunny boi (until next msq patch). I really enjoy both a LOT - and I've literally never enjoyed playing another race besides Elezen.
Don't do it, they are terrible. They are the bard of the races. Have some self respect for your hero of light, don't make them into hero of filth.
Do it. If that's what your heart tells you. Many people fought and many brain cells died to make the boy bun a thing.
And to my surprise they look pretty great!
How could I possibly regret changing into this walking bag of hawtness.
