The huge change to cooldown timers on Dancer has made things.... slow.
So it leaves me wondering, Is Skill speed viable now to reduce our timers back into an enjoyable range, or are we just going to have to suck up a 2.40+ second recast still pumping into Crit and DH?
I would say it will still be Crit/DH or Crit/Det with starfall being added and the value of Det being increased for damage but not sure about it since i dont know how much they increased it.
Every thing is loaded during our Technical step window where we're under Devilment + Starfall being a automatic Crit/Dh, and since skillspeed doesnt affect any of our most important skill (Dance step + OGCD) it seem to be pretty low on the priority.
I could be wrong of course but right now on paper i cant see skillspeed being good for dancer.
Unless your whooe kit scales from SkS it is unlikely you'll use it.
The issue with SkS is that most ogcd don't scale from it, you could have 10000000, if you can only use something once every 30s it won't make it do more.
This is why BLM scales well from it. I don't know about EW dancer but if too much of your output comes from ogcd that do not benefit from SkS you will most likely not want to have any.
Also, dancer's buff are Crit based which makes Crit synergies well with it unlike SkS.
Ofc the balance team will figure this out but I'd be surprised... As long as they don't make ofcd scale from SkS in a way or another, SkS will not be interesting
Well the biggest reason i was wondering about Skill Speed is as mentioned, because the class has been taken from fun and mobile to slow as all hell (But still mobile) everything has been dropped to the lowest speeds i have seen of any rotation, cant remember any other job whos cooldowns default too 2.5 sec even without skill speed boosted, they all gain some worthile boost or dont need it but Dancer seems to have just had its speed lowered without anything to compensate for the loss (Im no expert though on other jobs so expect there probably are some).
More of our non Tech/standard steps going off means more Fan dances and Blade dance etc, also i noticed when I slotted SkS the can execute our steps faster as well, they start out at 1 second and used to be a lot faster, Considering the use of devilemnt for crit in our burst window, I would think having an overall faster rotation would be more important over all than having crit outside of devilment.
Yes with the change to proc they reduced dancer APM a little while only adding news abilities to the burst window so it can feel weird rythm wise, i got that feeling with the new summoner because it's way less nervous than the old version.
For Step and Skillspeed yes it allow you to cast Technical Step/Standard Step a little faster for the first GCD but it doesn't affect the step 1 sec GCD that come after the first button press.
Yes it's true Skillspeed allow more proc with a faster rotation but it affect only a part of our rotation (not the best part also) and you have to ask yourself if it's worth the trade against more Crit/Det/DH which affect everything in your rotation and more importantly our Technical Step burst Window (the most important part)
As an example without any Skillspeed during 120 sec taking into account Technical Step(4 sec), 4xStandard step (8 sec), 4xSaber Dance (could be more could be less depend of proc... but i think that's a realist amount per minute), Tilana and Starfall dance you do 38 GCD which are affected by skillspeed and proc fan dance/Esprit gauge, so if you add 10% Skillspeed you need to see if those 4 more actions (if we grossly round up) every 120 sec are worth more than the Crit/Det/DH you lost while doing.
Skillspeed/Spellspeed are more of a comfort/cap stat so at worst while waiting for more experienced people than me to clearly answer your question you could go Crit/Skillspeed as long you're doing roulette/normal stuff it won't be a problem and at least you will get a little more APM to satisfy your need.
