It seems that SE has finally figured out how to implement escort quests and is determined to have multiple ones in every single zone.
Especially during the MSQ.

I gotta say, I'm only atv83 right now and I absolutely hate these ecscort missions. Just feel like unnecessary padding , please tell me it's not like this thru the whole story.
I agree, I don’t really like this unnecessary addition. I feel as if this is a petty attempt to punish players who just skip cutscenes and speed run to the end.
Its like this throughout the story, so far. And I love it. Forced slow downs are wonderful. Just dont go too fast and you will have no problem with the NPC keeping it up. I wish they would add an NPC to each dungeon that if you run too far away from them, you have to wait for them to catch up.
Yoshi P was actually quite proud of this new feature, bragging about how when an NPC tells you they will travel with you, they actually do it now.
Well different strokes for different folks and all that, I'm typically a go fast kind of guy so perhaps that's what's so jarring for me
I think it was a nice feature. At least I personally enjoyed it.
Almost as if the story is kinda important in this game and maybe if you're speeding through it you're doing it wrong (in this case anyway-I blame no one for skipping through post-ARR and the more boring parts of Stormblood).
I understand people like different things... but this seems like such a small thing to complain about that just makes those people seem idk... ungrateful?
Mofos lucky yall even playing with those login queues
Yeah, I was actually excited when first encountering this. It's neat, mixes up the quest pacing a bit.
Sure, it may be a kind of padding. But that's fine. If it lets me spend more time with the new content without burning through it, there's not really any need to be speeding through the quests.
I think it adds a nice new variant in the storytelling, and having optional conversations for those that want to spend a few words more with their favorite npcs is neat.
