Inventory and Key Items

So I was looking at my inventory today, and I've noticed that there's 105 slots allocated to 'key items'. Given that inventory space is a common complaint brought up, would it not be a good idea to trim 35 slots from the 'key items' section, and allocate those to the main inventory?

Given that the game has a quest limit of only 30, I can't think of a scenario in which we would ever need the full 105 slots, unless someone was to go out of their way to attempt it with a very specific quest selection (and even then, there's already systems in-game that can prevent this ever becoming an issue). As someone who's been playing since 3.0, I don't think I've ever filled up the first 35 spaces in my Key Items section, much less the other 70.

Maybe the devs could look into the possibility of doing this as a solution to the complaints about inventory space?

Those slots are only graphical and do not represent actual inventory space.

IRC this was asked in a QA back in the day and the answer was something along the lines of "there aren't actually that many Key Item slots, it's just easier to display full pages in the inventory UI."

The Key Items are stored as "do you have this yes/no" toggles. The data is stored completely differently, but for the sake of consistency & ease of use it's displayed in your GUI as if it were a part of your regular inventory.

Have you tried changing your inventory size down to its smallest setting? That'll trim a lot of key item space.

It's also how you know it's not really inventory slots, since they come and go depending on your inventory settings.

"Hey, look, if I fully expand my inventory window, there's suddenly tons of free space here!"
