How to collect rarified materials?

The yellow gather's scripts seem to be mostly acquired by collecting 'rarified' materials...
I can turn on collectibles for fishing, but could somebody explain how to collect rarified materials from botany and mining nodes?

The rarified material nodes are on timers. If you go to your gathering log, switch the display from "Level" to "Special" and go to the Collectable categories. If you hover your cursor over the zone where the material is found, it will display the times the nodes are available. Clicking on the zone will pull up the world map centered on the location where the nodes are found. There will be 3 node locations fairly close to each other within the zone and they will respawn throughout the node window as you gather from them. Many gatherers will use Waymarks (the ones you normally see players using during dungeons/trials/raids) at the node locations to make it easier to travel to the next.

MIN and BTN no longer need Collector's Hand. Instead, a collectable window will open when you select the material at the node.

Scour, Brazen Woodsman/Prospector and Meticulous Woodsman/Prospector will increase the rating at the cost of node integrity (gathering attempts).

Scrutiny will increase the effective of the above actions at the cost of GP, along with a couple of traits that have a chance to proc.

Once you've increased rating to a level you're satisfied with (or Integrity is down to 1), you can collect your items.

Perception and Gathering stats affect different actions/traits so having a good food buff active can help increase rating. I wouldn't suggest using a GP food while doing Collectables unless it will get you to a 600 or 800 GP breakpoint (having an extra 200 GP to spend is helpful).

It's fairly simple to do once you've given it a few tries.

Good to know. I guess I've just failed to find the temporary 'rarified' nodes then.
I've gathered 'regular' collectibles from various nodes (they mostly seem to be for quests), but never managed find the rarified ones to earn scripts to get the 'folklore' books.

This is a very useful schedule for farming collectible items for scrips. I'm not a fan of the macro, but I've found the table with the schedule to be super useful. Something to keep in mind; check the different tiers of collectible rating at the appraiser; different levels of collectibility give different numbers of scrips. Depending on your gear/stats you may need to get lower rated items just to get scrips so you can get the better gear. I was able to get at least one high collectibility item per node using only the level 70 scrip gear. Once I got enough Landsaint gear I started getting two or three items per gathering attempt.
