Leveling spots?

me and my friend just started again, we both level 10 classes atm and was wondering what people generally do to level now, is there any special dungeons or instances? No one seems to do behests or not many ppl doing leves, I found it faster grinding then leves. We currently ganging lvl 10 dodos, which is pretty fast but just wondering if theres any advice you guys could give us thanks.

At level 10 I would suggest the puks near Camp Skull Valley (La Noscea). There are three groups, first of them level 10-12, second level 13-16 and third level 17-19. After that, there are Beryl Crabs near Camp Bloodshore (La Noscea again) level 20-22. I haven't found any perfect EXP camp site yet, but Moogle Box has a nice Mob Location Tool (click Other Stuff on the site menu to find it) and this site has many EXP camps listed.

The first dungeon is Sphoshae near Limsa Lominsa, but I wouldn't recommended it for duo EXP. I've tried to duo there several times but the mobs seem to be either too low level (they don't give decent EXP) or you get too many aggros and die. The monsters there are level 15-22 if I remember correctly, so you can check it out around those levels if you're feeling adventurous and aren't afraid of dying. Sphoshae is an open world dungeon so you can just walk in. ;)

The first instanced raid dungeon is Toto-Rak and it's for level 25+. To get access you need to have the grand company quest Imperial Devices open or done. The dungeon is near Camp Tranquil (Black Shroud). I recommed doing this as much as you can, it's really fun, you get some nice level 30 gear and weapons and achievements for killing the bosses. The EXP is really nice too. :)

Personally, I find leves a faster way to EXP. Try to beat them before the clock hits 22.30 to receive the time bonus and set the difficulty as high as you can to get difficulty bonus. I usually duo leves with a friend and do behest at the same camp every 30 mins.

And yeah, I didn't notice the XP we receive at the end of the leves before lol I didn't know it added to class xp so we started doin some leves

So far I haven't had a lot of time to play, so I do my 8 for the day, and then have to log off. But I must say the gil is adding up, and I am only level 7 lol.

Leves and Behests are the best way to level up outside of instanced raids. Casual grinding should be done only, and I mean ONLY if you have no other options available. Just always be near a camp (or have fast access to one) so you can join Behests. There's absolutely, positively zero reason why anyone should ignore Behests. They happen every 30 minutes and is practically a free Guildleve.

Still, most good exp spots can be found near camps. But if simple grinding is getting boring, I suggest getting a Behest party that just sticks together to do behests as they show up every 30 minutes and take roughly 5-10 minutes to finish. Once you're done, break out a DoL or DoH class and level your crafting until the next behest starts.

There's always something you can do to raise levels. But once you hit level 20, it's suggested that you start getting into Guildleve parties. Get some friends and form a Static since this game's party search/party flag options aren't properly made and utilized. Even a small party of 4 with only 4 available leves per person and alternating with Behests is a great EXP session, especially during the 20-30 slow spot where there's very little in the way of same-level enemies.

So, long story short, only grind if there's absolutely no options left available. And if you have to do this, make sure you're able to get an EXP chain going for bonus EXP or else it'll feel even slower. Use those links given to find where enemies of your current level are hiding, but always be sure to do those behests. You'll be kicking yourself later if you don't. They happen at every camp everywhere in the world every 30 real-world minutes. The battlewarden appears on the 00 and 30 minute marks and behests begin 3 minutes after. And if the game says you need to wait longer for the next behest, just spam the warden until you're able to join because your personal behest timer is also set to 30 minutes.

What level do you have to be to start Behest's? I see them going on, but I never participate thinking I am too low.

It's designed for being on the 5s. So Black Brush is 5, Drybone is 15, Horizon is 25, etc.

I keep reading two different positions on leveling by behest vs. "grinding" which i am thinking is experience party fun. Is this due to the multiple reformats of the game? I also read a lot of 1-50 in two weeks. I must be doing something terribly wrong as it took me a week to get to lvl 10.

Also notice a lack of stickies for the threads, are the mods really that picky? I thought for sure that the new player section would have the usual, “getting started: your first few levels”, “things I wish I knew then that I know now”, “early cash flow”, “Server mentor list”, etc.

As you haven't really stated what you are currently doing to level, I can tell you what you can do. Listen to what these people are saying. Even solo it shouldn't take you more than a few hours, if that, to get to level 10.

One suggestion if you have not done it is to first off, find the inn keeper for what ever city you are doing leves for, assuming you are doing leves, which is the quickest way to level in my option. The inn keeper will have you do a simple quest, just run through the city real quick, and BAM! you have a private inn room. These rooms grant exp bonuses for how ever long you rest in them. Simply log out by going into the room and selecting the bed. The exp boost will greatly increase your exp gain for depending on how long you rest and what level you are. This also allows to easy teleporting as it allows you to have two home points, however they do share a cool down. What I do though is grab the leves, rent a chocobo to run to the camp, do the leves, then use the return command to go back to town and repeat the process.

Another suggestion is to find a buddy. If you aren't currently playing with a friend or are not in a linkshell, there is a great community section on the forums to help you find the best social linkshells, most of which just require a quick application to join or just an in game message to one of the leaders. Doing leves with one or more people allows you to increase the leve difficulty which essentially just increases the mob level and rewards bonus exp at the end. However, if you can not find someone to do leves with, always try to do them above your own level. Each extra star after one star adds +3 levels to the mob, and you can obtain exp chains on any mob greater than or equal to your level. My friend and I got to level 30 in about a week this way, and we didn't even do behest like everyone is saying simply because we didn't know about it. If you are lucky and find a great, helping linkshell, someone in there might even power level you, but I DO NOT recommend doing that for the majority of your leveling, especially on your first job. Nothing is more irritating than someone who doesn't know jack about the game because they got power leveled to 50 lol. To rap up this essay of a paragraph.. lol, if you do get power leveled, make sure you take time after to organize any new abilities, learn them, and maybe do some leves to make sure you have everything down. Many of the class forums have great guides for that job/class so look those up for a good read.

About dungeons, I didn't do them lol. Grinding leves, though boring at times, rewards you so much money to buy new gear for your class. But if others say they are useful, by all means do them. I'm sure there is gear I missed out on by not doing them. However, don't waste your time making a party. The community is not large enough right now to find people fast enough to make it worth it, at least on my server which is over populated (Durandal).

Last suggestion, do the story quests when you can. Later on, they reward great exp and money. Though I have skipped most of the dialogue, it seems an interesting enough story to go and look up the dialogue later.

TL: DR

• Do the inn quest for you city to earn bonus exp and multiple home points.
• Make friends and join a linkshell for overall game help on quests or a buddy to level with.
• Power leveling is great, but only in moderation, and take time to learn your class in between power levels.
• Only do dungeons if you can find a party or make one fast enough to make it worth it.
• Leves are you best option. You make good money and great exp from doing those plus behest every 30 min.
• And finally, do the main story when possible for good money and exp.
