It appears some upcoming PS3 games, like Dusk514, will include full support for a keyboard and mouse. Is this something that is planned for the FFXIV 2.0 release on PS3?
I think this will attract alot of people as well as please all the MMO players that believe that playing an MMO with a controller is just plain crazy talk.

It depends, I know the PS3 version is having its own separate UI, although I'm not sure if they plan to add the M/KB version to the PS3 also.
IF not then there is no reason to add M/KB support. -

in ffxi there was keyboard support and i bet in ffxiv there is going to be also.. so ppl can chat now the cool thing would be Bluetooth support for party chat, now that would be hot, turn on blue tooth on ps3 join a party and start talking. i mean the tech is there i hope SE uses it voice chat can no longer be ignore in co-op multiplayer gaming.

Keyboard support is for certain. They're going to need to chat with the rest of the players, lol. It's just a matter of being able to bind your keys or not.

As far as the VIOP (which isn't really the point of the thread) Teamspeak, Vent and mumble are really double-edged swords. They are slick COm programs that continue use even if the game client drops you, as a 3rd party program a game company need not spend/hire/licence Voice software internally.
And you can keep your ears free of D***bags, arsehats and racist 14-year olds.
The downside being the lack of Ingame voice is you never really chat with a pickup group, random people without passing out your Voice server info, they set it up etc. (add troubleshooting for the computer inept)
And with cross-platform games that are slowly becoming more prevelent, your ending up with the PC users who TS/Vent/Mumble, and the ps3 users who Btooth further seperating the comunity, which integrated voice helps with.
Still holding out for a Game company to work WITH a software provider like TS of Vent to make that very program accessable and plug in worthy to the game client itself. So you could /Voice invite Don Juan
and it would connect him to your Vent server. One can dream -

And it worked very well precisely because people didn't use Vent/Teamspeak/etc for voice as it was provided in game. Vent/Teamspeak/etc are the only VoIP solutions that require an external server. There is no purpose for a dedicated VoIP server! Also these programs are awful to setup.Quote:
