Idea: Memorial for the Fallen Adventurer

Are there any places similar to this in game already?

I think we can all agree that whether it's XIV, WoW, or any other MMO, one of the most profound moments is when players gather to honor and mourn the IRL death of a player. I think it would be nice if there was an area in game where gatherings and vigils and such could be held for Warriors of Light that we've lost.

This would have its own in universe lore. Certainly many adventurers have fallen to mobs over the years, and even more soldiers fighting in each factions armies have fallen in various wars and calamities. Therefore it would make sense to have a monument protected by NPCs of all factions, including Doma, Ala Mhigo, and Ishgard. I think it'd look nice on a clifftop adjacent to the sea in La Noscea. I was picturing a large circular area made of white stone, with a monument in the center. If a certain number of players all click the monument at the same time, or maybe a plaque next to the monument, say like 40 players or so, it can activate scripted NPC actions or the lighting of candles.

Good idea? Bad? Too morbid? lol

For places that exist already, you could use the "marks of the Twelve" – the large stones with the emblems of the gods on them, spread around the realm. We have a canon instance of the characters visiting the mark of the god most significant to a person who died, so that could be carried over to visit the mark of the player's guardian deity or that is representative of them in some way.

So long as the area is set for free PvP

There is a chirch in in camp dry bone aswell as the auditorium in gridania ive seen people gather in those places for memorials aswell as a few others

Kinda a tangent, but I would love for there to be rentable spaces within the game in the same vein as the wedding venue.

Basically allow for events where a host can set the overall mood/decor and even limit who gets in.

In OP's case, some kind of shrine or temple or church with a central object to pay respects to would be lovely. Maybe some kind of somber bells one could ring or whatnot.

In the past, we've held memorials at a certain Heavensward character's grave.
