Bad SAM?

Hey guys, I switched from tanking for 3 years to maining Sam over the last month. I really don't like job hopping and focus on my main in any game tbh. I love the job and am trying to be the best I can be with it but am always open to criticism and advice. I'm currently trying to augment as many pieces to 530 as possible before ew and I've noticed dancers and dragoons linking to other melee instead of me. I always have higanbana up on the boss, I pop third eye before every unavoidable aoe and follow up with Seigan, I always use Senei off cd and shisui as often as possible for more setsugekkas or double setsugekkas and always weave in shinten when i know it won't ruin a kaiten. I typically have 10-12k more hp then my dps counterparts in the 24 man's and am just wondering if people are linking to other dps to boost them or if I'm doing something wrong? I play on ps4 and would love a dps meter like details from wow so I could actually see what I'm dishing out in comparison.

There are many reasons why Dancers ain’t always pair with the job they’re supposed to.
Sometimes they pair with most gorgeous glamours dps in the grp.
Sometimes they pair solely with lalafell dps.
You shouldn’t concern yourself why they don’t pair with you, as long as you know what you’re doing ppl will notice that and blame that dancer instead.

The mistakes I see most with new sams make is drifting tsubame to much from raid buffs. With your gear set you might be drifting a lot with tsubsme because of how much skill speed you have, I would look at sks tiers on the balance discord. If you have the correct sks tier then look at how many fillers you have to do. I like having a single filler because you'll be using enpi as filler. Learning to loop helps a lot with newer sam's also.

Keeping uptime is the most important thing to do as a melee but samurai it's even more important because it can cause drift if you can't improvise.

I would check out the balance discord and ask specific questions there because they're a lot more knowledgeable there.

There's many other reasons as to why players are ST buffing an odd choice.

It can be because they macro'd it to not have to target.
It can be because they judge on another metric (gear, title).
It can be because it's their friend.

I wouldn't take that as people judging your DPS, I've seen dancer choosing a Samurai in poor gear rather than a full ilvl530 DPS.
Most people just go "Okay you get the buff because my mouse/macro decided so."

Don’t get me started xD funny enough that’s one of the reasons why one of my static friend doesn’t allow dancer when he starts party finder groups. He had so many negativ memory’s I’m pretty sure he has PTSD from them at this point.

Since you don’t have access to parsers as a PS4 player you can get a general sense of where you stand on dps from the enmity list. Outside of tanks and healers who obviously skew the results with enmity skills and healing, there are no enmity dumps in the game anymore on dps so your damage and enmity are going to line up fairly well. As a SAM you should realistically be top dps on enmity outside of a BLM, if you’re losing to other dps even if they’re getting dance partner your rotation is likely off which is particularly bad as a SAM since damage is all you bring to the table.

If you’re falling short then just do some research, look up rotation guides, gear guides, ask the balance discord and practice on the SSS dummies, eventually you’ll settle into the rotation.

I recall trying to clear Titan Unreal, a fight I'm pretty knowledgeable of from ARR but had trouble getting a clear mostly because I delayed in clearing it.

As a BLM, I was topping threat and was able to get dance partner, but we just couldn't clear. So out of the blue I just went: "Hmm, maybe I'm not the best target for dance." Despite this objectively not being the case, subjectively we started playing round robin with the dance partner until we got the clear. When did it happen? Why, when we dance partnered the AST, of course.

All glory to giving dance to the least valid class, the morale alone was worth it in spades.

Sounds like you got a clear because everyone doing the mechanics right instead of who pair with who since you didn't mention enraged.
Really, enrage aside you shouldn't bother much about which one dancer is gonna paired with.
