My Proposed Scholar Changes

Id summarize the SCH with the following keywords:

1. Utility
2. Barrier
3. Group Centric Healing

Scholar doesn't lack utility. Scholars excel with barriers. Scholars also seem to do better group-wide healing rather than single target as a trade off for their former areas of excellence. That is my perception of playing scholar..

Dissipation - Now can only be used with the Seraph. Allowing you to prematurely consume the Seraph and return back to Eos/Selene. When the Seraph is consumed, all party members within radius of the Seraph will have 1 negative effect removed. Also grants the Scholar the healing bonus from the original Dissipation. Dissipation cannot be assigned to hotbar. The ability will only be an option once the Seraph is summoned and the Summon Seraph icon will be transformed into Dissipation for the duration of Seraph. If the Seraph times out, you will not be able to cast the Dissipation. The idea of a group cure is nonexistent in FF14 and this will also add another utility to Scholars.

Eos & Selene - Instead of 2 different pets with 2 different keybinds. Eos and Selene will now be merged into one toggled button. When you toggle the button, Eos and Selene will swap places. In addition, upon toggling between the different faerie pets. You will gain +25 to your Faerie Gauge. The toggle will be on a 30 second Cooldown. Eos & Selene will still cast Embrace and be used to cast Faerie Gauge abilities normally. In the event that a pet is not summoned, the initial press of the toggle button will be used to summon a Faerie Pet starting with Eos due to alphabetical order.

Faerie Gauge Changes - With the changes to Eos & Selene, it will become easier to fill the Faerie Gauge. In addition, abilities which also add to the Faerie Gauge and consume the Faerie Gauge may need to be fine tuned. Dependence and reliability on the Faerie Gauge will be increased overall. Since Dissipation is no longer used to add Aetherflow Stacks. Filling the Faerie Gauge will now grant the Scholar 1 Aetherflow Charge. The goal of these changes to add depth to the Faerie Gauge, allowing Aetherflows to be generated passively. While adding increased utilization of Faerie Gauge abilities, and pet usage. Scholars already have 1 keybind dedicated to an immediate 3 Aetherflow charges. They don't need 2 keybinds, and as an added benefit this helps alleviate button Bloat.

Summon Seraph - Will now grant the Scholar +25 Faerie Gauge. This is done for the sake of the philosophical changes to the Faerie Gauge synchronizing with passive Aetherflow Charge generation. Calling for your Faeries to aid you and your party grants Faerie Gauge meanwhile using their abilities consumes it. Between toggling Eos and Selene, and using the Seraph, Faerie Gauge generation to 100% can happen quickly, thus, 1 Aetherflow Charge can happen quickly.

I'm a bit confused - Seraph already does not consume any resources, unless I'm missing something you're proposing?

In regards to Dissipation: locking the functionality behind Seraph would make the button even worse, in my opinion. If it doesn't give Aetherflow, you're just taking away your enhanced Embraces/Consolation for a party wide Esuna by using it, which would then need to be balanced around or else Scholar would become incredibly valuable for the little mechanics that require Esuna and Dissipation would be otherwise completely useless in content that doesn't need it. Why would you ever want to get rid of Seraph early unless you really need Fey Union? What makes up for the lost DPS/healing that Scholar could've done with Aetherflow gained from Dissipation? Also, what now becomes Scholar's level 60 capstone? Do they just lose another ability only to get it back at higher levels?

For Eos and Selene, why would you want to tie a resource to their summoning? To encourage pressing the button more? I agree that they can really just be merged into one button that lets you cycle through who you want, but why turn their button into "Aetherflow but for Faerie gauge"?

I also really don't think filling the faerie gauge is particularly an issue for Scholar, as it stands you will regularly be capped on it in ShB due to how Scholar works. Perhaps in EW it will actually become a resource that you manage more frequently due to the ability to weave Fey Union, but I believe it will still be regularly filled up and won't exactly be something you'll need to worry with. You haven't proposed anything that would use Faerie Gauge, so it would still be just Fey Union?

But I have to ask - why? The gauge already feels hastily slapped onto Scholar's kit and you don't interact with it outside of two abilities that are about to become one again; so what would warrant Scholar being more dependent on one ability?

You're correct about the Seraph consumption. It use to cost but doesn't anymore. I edited my post regarding that. Also, the 3000 character limit is rough on forums. To answer some of your questions. Dissipation is just a horrible mechanic entirely and because it would be changed as to where it's no longer part of your base toolkit but rather as part of your Seraph duration you still have the functionality of the skill in the sense you're sacrificing a pet for an additional set of situational benefits without locking you out of numerous skills entirely.

The idea of sacrificing the Seraph is done so for very situational circumstances when you need increased healing potency, in addition to a group esuna. The logic is to make it situational rather than a mandatory part of a rotation.

As for Faerie Gauge. I find it ridiculous to have a separate resource such as Faerie Gauge that genuinely isn't often used. The logic behind my proposed changes is to add passive aetherflow generation, make Faerie Gauge more worthwhile as a resource, reduce Bloat, and some of the clunky SCH mechanics that involve the pets and Dissipation.

As for the Faerie gauge tied in with toggling Eos and Selene. This just means youd be weaving pets in occasionally for additional Faerie gauge and aetherflow charges. Which I find more tolerable than losing your pet and locking yourself out of abilities in order to use Dissipation.
