It's nice, and not to be a negative Nancy, but....
omg we get enough fan art and commissions on the official subreddit, which is also what ended up making me unsub from it, please for the love of all that is good, do not spread that plague here too. It's just way too much manga/anime themed commissions that all just look the same with different variations in skill level.
I have ZERO idea what the hang up is with people showing their commissioned pieces off. They supported an artist, got art of their character that they’re proud of, etc etc.
So what if it’s an anime style? I honestly question how people can’t see the differences in styles.
I will say there’s a forum thread for this but it tends to get buried so it’s understandable that OP didn’t find it.
It just get overwhelming, especially on the subreddit.
And the only issue I have with the anime/manga style is that it is just over used. I can tell the difference in styles, but the common elements make them all blend together and it gets boring when every commission you see is a play on the same style. I am looking for some work done too, but I will skip over anyone who has either their entire portfolio or the majority of it done in 1 style, especially one that has been done to death, like this style is. I know that is blasphemy in a ff forum, but come on, be a little more creative.
I think we already have a megathread for that, OP just probably doesn't know where it is. Maybe someone can post it here for them.
I've seen plenty of manga/anime artists with unique and memorable styles and still very much anime/manga styles. It's rare to see massively upvoted pieces that break the mold, though. It's like people took My First Manga Art Book and just never took to anything of influence.
Meh. Face is off, left arm is twisted too much and the staff is floating in the air.
the face reminds me of Jim Hawkins from treasure planet
