The Phantom Forest from FFVI.
Every time 10 levels you fight a ghost of a defeated foe, and you ride the phantom train to the next set of levels.
At the end of the deep dungeon you fight a FFXIV version of the Phantom Train.
Exploring a spooky forest as a Deep Dungeon would be pretty cool.

You do realize we already fight the Phantom Train in the Omega raids, right? Specifically, Sigmascape 1.0. If you havent done them yet, I highly recommend doing so.

We've also got a Halicarnassus in Haukke Manor (Hard) and a Halicarnassus in Deltascape 3, so name reuse isn't a huge stumbling block.

I want to see something built around Wanderer's Palace and Tonberries.
I think that Persona 3's Reaper mechanic was fantastic for adding a bit of pressure when you were exploring Tartarus. Imagine if you had the same thing here, except with Tonberry stalkers? You're on a floor without any light, except for a small ring of torchlight around your character. You spend too long searching for the exit. A lamp appears off in the distance, and slowly starts moving towards you...
I'd also like to see something akin to Lufia 2's Ancient Cave's blue chest items. Perhaps instead of having the accessory drops show up at the very end of the run, perhaps have equippable items that either last only for one run or are persistent. -

I actually wouldn't mind a lost woods kinda deep dungeon, where we wandered from area to area, but it wasn't necessarily descending or ascending.
The idea of having a train that stops in spots while we scour the area for whatever it is we need to continue our journey is interesting. Has Voidtrain vibes, but obviously would be different.
