This interview includes a question about sage; of notable interest, I feel here more than other interviews, it's particularly outlined that the dev team considers Sage to be the answer to player requests for more involved healer DPS.

I like her question about the dev team travelling for research~

My only problem with this is that they seem proud of Toxicon as a great dps opportunity while it's actually a loss and will probably be a niche skill if don't need to actively put ST shield (in a raid environment)
It looked good on the paper to be rewarded with a dps spell for shielding, but the potency doesn't follow.
Too bad, cause it could have been interesting to line it up for raid burst windows ect...
It will mostly be dps neutral for movment if you can proc it.

That's certainly a curious remark.

In one minute, a Sage without high spellspeed that doesn't gcd heal gets 22 casts of Dosis/Toxikon, 2 casts of EuDosis, 1.3 Phlegma and 0.5 Pneuma. Eukrasia adds 2 casts per minute.

In one minute, a Scholar in that position gets 22 casts Broil, 2 of Biolysis, 4 of Energy Drain and 0.5 Chain Stratagem. Dissipation adds 0.3 CPM and Aetherflow adds 1.

The potency of Broil IV was likely kept down because they saw Energy Drain was about to not need Ruin II. Scholar would use that in an extreme case for mobility alone - where Sage would use Icarus.

These sequences don't seem very different at all.

I had initially gotten excited by Toxikon. Its GCD status kills it, and makes it the functional equivalent of Ruin 2 and Energy Drain, with a slightly different button order. Since Sage doesn't have many OGCD attacks, it is not like it will be facilitating any further offense, and for counting purposes will simply replace a cast of Dosis.

Totally agree, but at least the concept is a good idea. All they need to do is increase the potency. We just need to showcase that a potency increase is what Sage needs, and honestly, it would have a very significant and positive influence to boost Toxikon II's potency to 660. I can't say it WILL be changed, but at least it's a feasible possibility during EW

I'll give credit where credit is due; I knew her interview would be the most entertaining. Her most interesting question was about what players want vs what players need, or rather Yoshi's response to it. He knows there is a lot of back and forth between the players in the community, and I am quite sure this happens in the Japanese communities as well. He implores we try to see each other's sides as he also knows there isn't a whole lot of that happening.

Just something to really take into consideration.

First, thanks for posting the in-depth analysis.

As far as this goes... I can only hope it's a bit more fun to play than may seem on paper. But whether it is or not... Since SE says (relatively) complex DPS is going to be sage's design niche, they may be relatively open to feedback to increase sage's rotation complexity - since they said they felt they couldn't do it on all healers due to conflicting desires within the playerbase.

So, in the long run, maybe it can still serve to provide an option for increased DPS complexity - even if it's not quite there yet.

I feel like what SGE would need is either turn Toxicon into an oGCD or give a single target version that's more potent than Dosis. This is a change I would push for to see in 6.05 or 6.1 (if it's not already there for 6.0, given things are still subject to change) because I don't think it's much of a change but could make a difference to how it feels to play SGE and getting better use out of their Addersting without it just piling up. For single target it's only advantage is mobility.
