don’t know if it’s possible from a programming standpoint, but it would be tremendously helpful if crafting mats would be pulled from your bank (retainer) automatically when you attempt to craft things.
Also some sort of unlimited mats storage or at least a VERY large one would be helpful, as the item and inventory management are the things that seem to give the biggest headache in this game.

This would be really helpful! Though I'm sure it's huge stress on the servers, given FFXIV's current known issues (not saying in general impossible). Think how our glamour log is restricted access due to server implosion if people could grab at it all the time, now imagine someone with like 10 retainers lol. If they could do it then it would be really easy life on 'managing my inventory'.. by smashing it all into every empty corner possible ;).
One other thought, maybe not as aggressive on memory, is being able to use nearby npc or just simply the market board when crafting. If near the market you could right click hyperlink to that material in the market, purchase what you wanted, and carry on within that window for your craft (meaning you don't have to stand up while looking through your recipes).
If possible somehow though it would be neat. I know ESO has something like this, and I believe New World does too.
Doubtful they would add more storage, they've got to sell those extra retainer subscriptions after all. :(
