Do not sign up as tank if you do not want to ACTUALLY tank

I can't believe the amount of runs of DR these past couple days I've done where we've actually had the presence of tanks who, for reasons absolutely beyond me, refuse to put on their tank stance.

You cannot have "tank anxiety" in level 80 end game content. You're beyond that point now. Stop wasting people's time, for god's sake. Having the aggro ping pong among the DPS and profane healers is making us slog through already unessecarily long content because so many refuse to use essences. If you want to be carried, do the bare minimum and help us help you. Throw on your tank stance and stop letting the DPS die.

Raised DPS/ profane healers do LESS damage when they raise. There is little we can do to prevent a tankbuster to the face, and you force the run to take even longer for absolutely no reason. There is extremely little you need to do in this raid as a tank. If you get marked red, face it away from people. Press your mitigation buttons. Do whatever it is you think your DPS is supposed to be. Point the boss north. That IS ALL. It doesn't matter if you die! A tank's dps is not worth nearly as much as the DPS that you keep sacrificing. There are exceptions to this, but you're not close to being one of them if the tank button scares you. It is SO MUCH better to have the party mildly annoyed at your poor boss positioning than the entire alliance bitching at you because you can't do your one simple job. I've healed plenty of fresh faced tanks that wander bright eyed and fearful into new content. But they charge in and do the role they signed up as. They die a ton and no one cares. They come back the next time knowing what to do. Just do the thing.

I go into DR as a tank a lot. I always use tank stance knowing well enough im at the mercy of glare/broil/maleficmages with profane essences ....
Going in with essences and some lost actions results in me doing more dps then 66% of the group.
Depending on essences used tank dps can be damn high. So dont go tell tank dps doesnt matter.
Also if those tanks use irregular essence, i understand they dont want to tank.

Yeah I'm hesitant to tank DR nowadays. You go in with a team full of green and feel ok but things aren't what they seem.

Irregular is honestly a garbage essence, you become a regular dps but also almost die to every raidwide with mitigation. There is an essence however that increases your damage and gives you life steal. Definitely your friend in low healing groups.

I must have been using my migitations wrong then. If I go Irregular, I always bring some healing or some extra migitation like aethershield with me.


regarding the topic:
I'm usually an Irregular tank because I think it is fun. I do however, ensure that I have bloodsucker on me as well. It has happened multiple times that despite me seeing other tanks and trying to communicate with them, it falls on deaf ears, resulting in no stances being turned on, me randomly still maintanking cuz insane deeps and people getting angry at me for dying because of the sudden aggro. Even speedruns have this problem. I like DR but holy cow, so many people incapable of reading chat or communicating anything.

As a tank, I can not for the life of me believe this is a thing! I'm surprised that you guys even got through the content without an efficient tank great job to you all!
Now seriously why would a tank do this? Sure I have forgotten to turn on my tank stance at the first and maybe even the 2nd pull but after that small mishap, I turn it on and apologizes for the mishap.

The essence isn't garbage. With the right setup and proper cooldown planning, you're essentially putting a shame on legit red dps job for dealing absurd amount of damage. They just require more thought to put into than your other generic "Use and forget till raid complete"-essences. Tankier essences on the other hand are just straight up lackluster in DRn.

It's quite common to see ping-pong'ing aggro when the main tank dies for whatever reason or early in first minute of pull. Once an MT is secured, normally the rest of tanks in the raid would turn off their stance and lags behind the rest of the raid members in term of generated enmity. Experienced DPS/Irregular/Profane user who knows what they're doing can easily hold the aggro for some time when this happens due to the stupidly absurd amount of damage they put out.

Plenty of time I had to tank a tankbuster in DRn when this happens as an aetherweaver/profane healers (yes, including AST lmao). Before one of the tank realizes they should voke it off me. I'm well prepared to deal in the event this happens so I live through the ordeal... most of time. Some aren't so lucky.

When I hear about stuff like this I have to remind myself this is not WoW and I'm still considered new to FF14 with only 1 week of being lvl80.
But I still find it amazing to hear these types of things happening and the fact that you guys run with 4 tanks in a 25men raid is almost unbelievable.
Tell me---Does a proper raiding FC also run with 4 tanks in a full-size raid or is that only the duty finder?

DR is not a classic raid, its first come first served. If 24 healers queue together all at once you might end up with a 24 healer run.

As stated by Rein, bozja/dr/zadnor have essences that can let you play your job out of its actual job. Essence of the savior with Lost cure 2 and 4 make any dps into an effective healer. Essence of the beast with lost taunt action makes dps into tanks(seen a SAM tank full dr )

You can go at this content classicly but youll need to partyfinder it. The games engine will pick your formed alliance and just tag on missing players according to their queue time.
