2 Cartidge Spender Question

Was thinking about it at work. If that new move uses 2 cartidges, doesn't that mean it would need to as strong or stronger than 2 Burst Strikes and 2 Continuations as well? Unless it also has a Continuation in which case it would just need to be as strong as 2 Burst Strikes?

It really depends on what role the skill really ends up filling. If it's part of Continuation, then it needs to be stronger than 2 Burst Strikes, if it's a skill Triggered by Continuation, and completely separate, it could simply be filler.

Your average gain on Burst Strike over your 1-2-3 is 200 potency (with 1-2-3 300pot/GCD); Continuation potency are still in the dark, probably 200-250 pot.
My guess it's around 800+ with aoe effect.

We'll know more in 2 weeks!

Could also apply a very potent DoT that gives it more potency than using 2 burst strikes or it could grant a damage buff.

Referencing an opener made by Rin, we have, currently...

1 -2 - 3 -1 / No Mercy - GF / Cont - SB / BZ / BS - SC / Cont - WT / Cont / Fest - 2 - Burst / Gap - Burst / Gap - 3 - Burst

Bolded are in your burst window. This is with 2 cartridges.

With 3 cartridges, we have an extra.

1 -2 - 3 -1 / No Mercy - GF / Cont - SB / BZ / BS - SC / Cont - WT / Cont / Fest - 2 - Burst / Cont / Gap - Burst / Cont / Gap - 3 - Fire Cross

So if Burst is 500 and Continuation ranges from 250-300, 250 for ease of math, this means Fire Cross has to be stronger than Burst/Cont within No Mercy + Burst/Cont out of it.

So this example is 900 + 750 or 1650 total potency, so Firecross would need to be at least 1400 potency which makes it 1680 under No Mercy. Using current numbers of course. It does look AoEish so even just barely stronger is still miles better once you start adding in more enemies, but ths implies that Firecross will have a cooldown, else it renders Fated Circle moot.

Perhaps the more concerning part is how many of your 60s burst window OGCD openings are claimed here. It'll make weaving defensives pretty annoying.

The new Cartridge spender looks like a AoE, and as said by Kabooa, since GunBreaker already has Fated Circle, it probably has a CD... As for potency, my assumption is that the new Cartridge Spender is meant for AoE, so its potency would be AoE balanced, and I assume that the GunBreaker will not even use it for single-target, or in single-target situations.

I can see why you might think that, but as it turns out, you can't just double a 1 cartridge spender to assign the potency of a 2 cartridge spender. Each cartridge spender replaces GCDs in which you would have been doing a certain amount of damage without the cartridges anyway, so the value of the cartridge has to take the baseline GCD potency into account. So the value of a cartridge spent on Burst Strike isn't 500p; it's only 200p, because you would have done 300p with a normal weaponskill during that time anyway.

to be better than Fang-Claw-Talon.


An AoE GCD action that costs 2 cartridges needs to do more than

Mean AoE GCD + 2 (Cart.P for Fated Circle)
200p/target + 2 (120p/target) = 440p/target

to be better than Fated Circle.

This is probably reasonable. I'd guess 800p, maybe with less damage after the first target to bring it closer to 440p/target on AoE.

It's obviously AoE... -_-
